When you say some rooms are a long walk at AKL....

Does that mean the walk is inside or outside? I guess my question is if you're in room farthest from the lobby or pool or bus or whatever, can you do most of the walking inside? I've only stayed at POFQ where everything was an outside walk!

All of the walking is inside. The only thing outside is a short walk from the lobby to the bus and to get to the "fast food" or pool area. Everything else is enclosed.

Also, the walkways to the busses & food areas are all covered. This is really nice when you are lucky enough to get one of those Florida rainstorms!!

MOST OF THE WALKING IS INSIDE THE RESORT. IF YOU GO THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP THERE IS ANOTHER DOOR ON THE OPPISITE SIDE,
THAT IS THE CLOSEST TO THE BUS STOP.

First of all, it's all inside. Also the longest walk at AKL is still shorter than most walks at any of the value or moderates. The farthest distance at the AKL to the bus stop is closer than the farthest distance at the BWI, CR, or YC/BC to their bus stops.

I can't imagine having a room at the end of those trails... I would have to pack a snack to tide me over on my way the food court.

I had a room at the very far end of the resort and did not find the walk to be bad at all. It was indoors and there is so much lovely scenery to enjoy along the way. I found the walk at the BCV to the lobby or pool was much, much worse! Most of that walk was outside in the heat, and I was worn out by the time I got to Stormalong Bay or the bus stop.

If it is mostly inside (except to the bus of course - you do have to go outside at some point!) that is great! I had considered staying at CS but one thing that turned me off was the possible long outside walks to the food court or pools, etc. I've been to Vegas several times and I know you feel like you walk a mile there inside the resort) to get to your room, etc. But that is fine with me - at least it is in the A/C!

When going to the buses.... take a short cut through the gift shop... there is another exit in there - and it is right at the buses!!

We've stayed there 2X and both times had a room pretty far down the hall. We didn't find the walk bad at all. We really enjoyed all the places you could stop and look at the animals. We're not commando type people anyway so we are never really in a hurry. If this is bothering you you can always ask for a room close to the lobby, but I would be careful, IMHO if you are TOO close to the lobby is may be a little noisy. We Love the AKL and hope you will too!!
