When you go to Disney for Christmas..

When we went in 99 we took some small gifts and the stockings with us and a small tree - really small, like 2 foot. But we drove and that made it easier. This year we are flying and we are doing our main Christmas before we leave but I'm taking the stockings and stuff to put in them. I didn't realize we couldn't wrap gifts, maybe I'll ship the stuff down, that might be easier.

This year also everyone understands that this is our Christmas gift (because we are also taking my dad) but I can't not have something for dd to open on Christmas day.

I've been going to disney world for Christmas for the last 6 years with my parents. I'm 20 now though, so the trip to Disney was pretty much the present for Christmas, but we do decorate the room slightly and exchange a couple of small gifts.

This year we are going at Christmas and Disney is basically our Christmas and what gifts we do get our going to be given to use before we leave but then again I am 17 and my brother is 14. I got a digital Camera last weekend for the trip and $100 for new clothes, which I spent the day after THANKSGIVING AND GOT OVER $285 WORTH OF CLOTHES FOR $75!!!! If you haven't been shopping the day after Thanksgiving I highly suggest that one! I am planning giving my parents their gifts and my mom's b-day gift which is on the 25th a couple of days before we go. Anyways, we will be at POR (23-29) so we will be happy to help you do some wrapping!

We're in the minority. Yes kiddo gets to spend two weeks at Disney for Christmas but she still gets presents - lots of them - at Disney. We have never been home for Christmas - usually it's relatives out of state. But for both this year and last it's Disney. So the presents are wrapped and loaded in the van as are mom and dad's presents too! Santa of course comes to the room. And "Disney" also leaves a nice gift bag at the door. Lastly, Santa is always good about leaving a big present at home. It gives us all something to look forward to on the way home.

Bottom line for us? No matter where we are Santa tends to find us. We also bring a small tree and an advent calendar or two (or three this year actually). The tree is decorated with our Disney ornaments. We have a great time and then do "Christmas" with my sister on NYE - where yes the kiddo gets still more presents. It all works out.

Of course, this is all fantasy for us because DH works for UPS and there's NO WAY they're letting him go on vacation at Christmas time.

Well at least if you do go for Christmas maybe you can get get free shipping for Santa ;) . BTW, your girls are adorable in their Halloween costumes!

We will be at WDW from Dec. 21 - 27. So far, I have bought a small tree for our room. Over the next 2 weeks, we will try to accumulate a few more decorations for our room. As for gifts...our 3 children are incredibly spoiled. Until very recently, they still had 3 great-grandparents who were still living and absolutely DOTED on them. That's not even mentioning grandparents!! To make a rather lengthy story a tad bit shorter, dh and I have been saying for quite some time that we HAVE to cut back on Christmas. So...this year we are buying very, very few gifts for the kids. (Don't feel too sorry for them. Not only could dh and I NOT think of anything they need, but each of their individual wants exceeded the $400 mark. Needless to say, we decided that it was time for this craziness to end.) So what are we doing instead of joining in on the shopping frenzy that precedes Christmas. Well, we booked a trip to WDW and have planned to buy the kids just a few small gifts while we are there. Christmas morning, there will be a small Santa gift and a full stocking for each child. (Since we were able to get a great AP rate on our room, we will actually save quite a bit of money...if we can control the urge to Spoil the kids.)

We say the same exact thing, every year. I also have the only great grand children so our christmases are very overwhelming. I'm actually looking forward to this trip because I have only bought for the kids and my parents. MIL will get hers after we get back, my older brother and I never exchange gifts (he thinks xmas is a corporate ploy) and my younger brother is in school in Japan. DH doesn't even want anything but I got him the complete series of MacGyver on DVD, so he'll be happy.

Disney IS christmas.. The trip is from me and DH..And everything that goes with a vacation to disney. suit cases full of new disney t-shirts, socks, sweatshirts, hoodies. new fanny packs with autographbooks, pressed penny books, landyards with pins for trading, 140 disney dollars each kid for spending money. for the trip down, New personal dvd players and a ton of new dvd's. Now since santa is still alive and well here in my house he has to visit at the world. so the kids will have stockings with things like video games, a new watch, mp3 players and a few other small travel freindly things..

leaving in 12 days :earsgirl: :earsboy:

We'll be in Disney World Dec. 23-31. Our Christmas with my side of the family will be the weekend prior to our trip...and with my husband's side of the family when we get back. Our teenage sons understand that this trip "is" their Christmas present. Santa, however, still makes his yearly visit. Since we'll be driving, I was able to wrap some new Disney jammies, T-shirts, and pins and have them packed in a separate small suitcase. I'm also bringing some Christmas lights, window clings, festive table cloth, and a small Christmas tree. My younger brother and his family will also be in Disney during the same time, so we plan to spend Christmas day together...going to Mass, having Christmas lunch in DTD, and just having fun. No parks for us on that day!

Merry Christmas, everyone! :earsgirl:

Thank you, we had a really fun time at MNSSHP this year. My only other reservation about going at Christmas would be that it means we wouldn't be going for halloween. I don't like flying so it takes me about a year in between trips to work up the nerve again to do it.

See you guys have the right idea. Drive. Then you can load the car up with as much stuff as you possibly can. Why let the FAA spoil Christmas with all their rules and regulations right? If ever Dh can get that vacation I think that's what we'll do. My birthday is on the 30th of December so we'll have to stay for my bday and NY too. Here's hoping...

We've been lucky enough to spend Christmas at WDW several times over the years - we drive, too, and always lugged Santa's presents (including stocking stuffers) with us - other gifts (from family and friends) are left at home, and always gave the girls something to look forward to, when they return home.

We've always had a small tree in our room, room decorations, etc. as well as lots of candy and treats - the same as we would at home.

If we could manage it, I think we'd spend every Christmas at WDW!
