When you go through your bank drive-thru...

I am always out of deposit slips. I only get like *4* in each pad of checks, and I use very few checks anymore, so I am always running out of deposit slips before I need a new pad of checks. If I go to the tubes, I have to call the teller, ask him/her for a blank deposit slip, send the tube in empty, then the tube comes back out with my slip, fill it out, then send everything back in again. It's just easier and quicker to do it at the window. I always have everything organized and ready to go so all I have to do when I get the blank slip is scribble the totals on it, put down my account number (which I have memorized - had the same bank and account for 20 years) and sign it... no, I am NOT the one holding up the line. ;)
However, if I do have a preprinted deposit slip, I will usually go to the tube lines. Mine are very easy to use as well; twist the top of the canister open, drop in the stuff, twist it closed again, drop it in the slot and press the "send" button. WHOOSH. :goodvibes

Well, at my bank, the push window is commercial only. So regular customers either go inside or use the tube lanes. The push window is always the shortest so if we're really in a hurry we use the push window and get a roll of quarters, those can't go through the tube.

That's how all the banks around here are. Push windows are for commercial use or people with coins and they prefer coins go inside. One further my bank only allows thier customers to use the drive thru. Even if you're cashing a check from my bank, you have to go in unless you are a customer.

I'm not getting the confusion on using the tubes. It's really simple, drive up take container out of slot, fill container, put in slot, push send...wait...wait....wait....glass door comes down, container returns, glass goes up, remove container and empty, put container back, drive away.

There was a store here when I was a kid called C.R. Anthonys. It's where we got clothes if you were lucky (sears and montgomer wards if you were short on money). They had no cashiers, a clerk would write you a ticket, you'd give them the money and then they'd put money and ticket in a pnumatic tube and WHOOSH away it would go to the money office. Then a few minutes later it would thump back down....the tubes were in sight and you could hear your tube rumble...then they'd hand you your reciept or change. I loved that tube and would stand right next to it, listening for the rumble. LOL kids were so easily amused before the days of video games and streaming video.

My pet peeve! People who get the tube, take stuff out of it, sit in their car (apparently writing or organizing stuff), dig around under the seats.. and you're assuming that they are not quite done with the teller. You're waiting, waiting.... waiting. Then they eventually put the car in drive and drive off!!

:rolleyes2

I've only sat there while I counted my money to make sure it was correct. Then I pull up to stuff it into my wallet. Along with my ID.

At our bank, it really appears that there is only one teller running all three lanes. I also manage always to get in line behind somebody who has "issues" with their transaction, and take a very long time. I have no relunctance to use the tube lanes, however. Usually, if I am by myself, I go inside because it is faster. Only one line, and the person with "issues" is holding everybody in line up the same.

That would be me! :wave2:

However.. I'm really, really good (I think it's the reason they moved me over there, grr!) about multi-tasking. I can talk to all three lanes, get people what they need and still keep track of who was first. And I wait on them in the order they PULL UP.

So if I've got 3 people waiting in line at the window and someone pulls up to the tube.. when my window customer leaves, I wait on the tube.

I figure the people waiting in line at the window chose to wait, and this person utilized an open lane and as the Drive-Thru is supposed to be "quick"... I'm not going to make them wait for the people in line at the window.

I get lots of eye rolls from people for it, but... I don't know. Seems fair to me.

Why don't you ask the teller for a bunch of blank deposit slips next time so you don't have to hold up the line each time? ;)

At my last bank, yes. We had a video operated drive-thru (no one had a push window.. muahaha no lines like the ones i'm talking about!)
It was the weirdest thing ever. We sat inside with cameras on us that whenever we hit "Talk" the cameras showed customers our image and we could hear you guys talking (and you could hear us), but we could hit "mute" and our image would go away but we could still hear and see you. We could always see the lanes, too.. the camera on the lanes never went off.
I hated that dang thing, though. The tubes were connected to our old drive-thru, which they closed. It was next door (about 100 feet away, not even connected) to the main bank.

We have those at one of my banks, too...the first time I went through the drive-thru after they installed them, there was CNN or something playing on the little screen, with the audio coming out the speaker. I was thinking, "Oh, that's nice, they want me to be informed re. world events," etc. when suddenly the teller's "Hi! How may I help you?" came booming through the speaker at me. I about wet myself.

I actually can't remember the last time I used the lanes. It's always the ATM! But I remember prior to ATMs, I'd sit there and count the money before driving away. Comes from getting the wrong amount once and having to either park and go in or drive around and get in line again.

I'd count the money before you leave the ATM, too. I work for one of the biggest banks in the country, in their ATM network service department. The bulk of my job is analyzing "problem child" ATMs, which involves reading a lot of technicians' tickets, and it's amazing the number of times cash vendors incorrectly load the cash cassettes in ATMs. I mean, it doesn't happen constantly, but I'm always surprised it happens at ALL, the 10s getting flip-flopped with the 20s, for example.

It's also amazing the things that people will stick into ATMs instead of cash or checks. I mean, candy? Really?

We service ATM's connected to the branch (we have one that we can access from in the inside, which we service) and another off-site, that we don't. We pay a company much like Brinks to come and do that one... and once we got a phone call from the City Police that the door wasn't shut and people could reach in and get money.
Seriously?
There wasn't anything we could do but wonder how do you forget to SHUT THE DOOR?! :sad2:
