When you can't take a flower arrangement off the ship...

Why not give it to guest services? At least, that's what my wife thought this morning. I had sent her a lovely fall arrangement from The Perfect Gift (thank you Shirley and Joanne) for her 3-day Disney Wonder cruise. At the end of the trip, the flowers were still quite fresh and Sue thought it would be a shame to not pass it on. So she took the flowers down to Guest Services and gave them to the folks there. She told them that they could even pass it on to another guest if they would like to do so.

Sue said that they accepted the gift very graciously and that The Perfect Gift arrangement was more lush than the one that already graced their desk. After breakfast, Sue went back past Guest Services to see if they were still displaying "her" flowers, and they were. Aunt Irene took a photo and, as soon as she gets her film developed and sends us a copy, I'll post a picture here.

Sue also told me that their head waiter told her that he would "see her in a month". Sue and I are cruising on the Wonder on November 7th and either her mom or aunt had made an offhand remark to that effect on the first night of their cruise. And their head waiter apparently picked up on that remark. I don't know their names yet, but again, as soon as Sue gets home and tells me all about her cruise, I'll post a 2nd hand trip report for her. That is unless I can get her to post it herself.

Great idea...this is what we did with our wedding cake on Friday night. We had so much left and we knew we couldn't take it off the ship with us we gave it to our head waiter to share among the wait staff. It was delicious and I hope they got some of it.

I knew a head of time that more than likely I'd not be able to take my bouquet off the ship. I couldn't imagine simply leaving such a keepsake so I had it done in silk. It turned out beautiful. They were so real looking that our wedding coordinator actually found them in the refrigerator. I also had a cm come up to smell the roses. :)

There is no replacement for the fragrant real ones but if you'd like to be able to take them off the ship and have them as a keepsake the silk ones are perfect.

Congrats on your wedding Renee! The side benefit of the silk is you don't have to go through the drying process and they look as good 20 years later as they did on your wedding day. I speak from experience. I was married in November and the roses and stephanotis I wanted were going to be really costly - so I opted for silk and saved a bundle. Today my bouquet sits on top of the corner cabinet in my dining room in a case like you can get to display dolls in and every time I see it am reminded of that day.

Hope your's brings you great memories for many years!

Although I got <I>mixed</I> answers from onboard CM's as to whether or not I could debark with the flowers that were a gift to me onboard in May (a Mickey pot from Magical Treasures with roses and such), the last answer I got was "<I>Just carry them off and <B>stop at the customs table</B> to ask.</I>" I did, and was informed by Customs that since they were put on the ship at Port Canaveral and were CUT flowers with no soil, there was no problem and I was allowed to take them home.

It's <I>very nice</I> to give them to a CM, but if you <I>really</I> want to keep them, you won't get in any trouble <B>provided</B> you stop at Customs and ASK them before trying to leave the terminal with them. They will either say yes or no, probably depending on who is working. ;)

Thanks taswira. That's very good to know. According to my wife, her arrangement was so large that I don't know how she would have managed to do anything with it on the flight home. But if she had been going to a Disney resort, it would have been very nice to take the arrangement with her. I can't wait to see her photos.

I can imagine! I didn't take mine on the flight back to Idaho. I left it at my part-time other home (that I share with my sister) in Daytona Beach. My sister said they lasted for a few <I>weeks</I>! Now the pot is still there in my bedroom. :)

That's a really nice gesture. I think it is nice to share the wedding cake also. :)
