how does Disney figure when your use year is?

Usually, they will be selling a certain Use Year (right now they are offering December and February for SSR). If you request another Use Year, they may be able to accommodate your needs.

At resorts other than SSR, the Use Year will depend entirely on what they have available and a waitlist may be necessary for some Use Years.
