When you book a CAT 6+11...

We are a family of 5 and it was cheaper to book 6 and 11 for Dec.05 cruise. (Instead of a CAT 4) It turns out our rooms are not directly across from each other but caddy-corner. Will this be annoying? Should I request one directly across? Or is it no big deal? Cabins 6043 and 6044. Any comments from some one who has done this? Kids in the CAT 11 are 13 and 14. Thanks.

We're doing the same thing on our next cruise. It's not a big deal. The doors are very close together. I've seen other moms running across the hall in a nightgown and haven't thought anything about it. Relax and enjoy.

I have not done it before, BUT on our very first cruise we are doing a 5 and an 11, they are right across from each other, but if they were just a few doors away, we would still do it! I know about the prices, and for our family of 6, 4 kids, 2 adults, that is the most economical, while still having a nice cabin and verandah. Have a great time, and since you are going before me, let us know how you liked it when you get back!

What cruise are you going on in December 05, Timmbco? We are going on the December 3, 2005 7 Night Western. You?

We had Cat 5 & 11 on our recent cruise. Rooms were 7568 and 7567. They were diagonal across from each other. We didn't have any problems--in fact, we LOVED the rooms and location. We had an extra key card for each room so we could go back and forth. The extra cards didn't have a name on them. I accidentally gave the extra card to a CM in one of the shops (to buy gifts) and she couldn't figure out why my card didn't have a name. We had a good laugh when I explained what it was. We loved the rooms!!

Our last 2 cruises we had 2 cat 11 next to each other. They were not connecting. For our July 2 2005 cruise we have a cat 6 and a cat 11 booked. They are also across from each other. It's no problem at all. It's great having the use of 2 bathrooms especially being we're a family of 5 with 2 teenagers and a pre teen. Enjoy your cruise!

sounds like we'll be just fine. Just found out that the CAT 6 is a connecting room and I really don't want that so I may have to make some changes.

cjsmom97.. We're on the DEC 17 Western. Isn't it hard to plan so far in advance?

We were booked for the 12/3/05 & 12/17/05 cruises. We weren't sure if anyone would want to go with us... turns out, OF COURSE THEY DO!! So, we just cancelled our 12/17/05 cruise today. We are locked in for the 12/3/05 cruise.

timmbco, we had 6044 on our trip 4 weeks ago! We loved it, but we were connecting with my folks so we didn't mind it. I can tell you that when the connecting door was shut there wasn't much noise at all. We kept the door open by leaving the lock "out" so they didn't shut all the way (DS was sleeping in their room). It is a great location close to midship elevators.
The people on our other side had relatives in the cat. 11 rooms across the hall--lots of kids "visiting" them back and forth!

Rock'n Robin....That's good to know about cabin 6044. I was just told there are no other CAT 6 near CAT 11's that are available for my cruise !!! So I have to take it. I really hate to connect though-thanks for the info.

cjsmom 97--sounds like you're gonna have a great time!!! What type of cabin did you release for Dec. 17th?

Our only experience with a cabin with a connecting room was awful! You know the family.....kids are jumping on the beds and hollering and to settle them down, the folks think screaming is the ideal parenting technique. Neighbors from h*ll....

'Course, we must have had the same family a cruise before who thought the veranda was a great place to "stick the kids" when they were rowdy.

Hopefully, your neighbors will be more courteous!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I hope your neighbors are as nice and quiet as mine--and since they were 72 and 74 that wasn't much of a problem!;)
Those rooms are already going for a 12/05 cruise???? WOW! As soon as the summer 06 dates come out I have to decide whether to do a cat. 4, the SPH cat. 10s, or a cat. 6/11 combo--our oldest will only be 14 so I think one of us would have to sleep over there with them.

We've done 4 DCL cruises and have always done a cat 6 and a cat 11 and love it! On our first cruise, the cat 11 was a couple of doors down and on the others, right across the hall. It really works out beautifully and there is nothing like having the extra storage space and the extra bathroom. ON our second cruise we offered to upgrade the kids to a cat 6 right next door to us and they all vetoed it, they just love the darkness of the cat 11.

That's THE main thing I miss on cruises.....I really like/need the dark for sleeping and you definitely do NOT get that with a verandah. Their pitiful little thin curtains are useless....not sure exactly what they are supposed to be for anyway!!

I take a sleep mask, but its not an ideal thing.....:(

The only bad thing I can think of is that you don't get the 3,4,and 5th person discount when you book two rooms. My 3rd person in one room is only 11 so he was disounted already. The other 2 people had to pay full price, one being my 15 yr old daughter.
Oh well.. The rest of the cruise will be
PARADISE :sunny:
