When you aren't excited for your trip?

We just returned from WDW tonight. For a place that prides itself as the Happiest Place on Earth, there were sure a lot of screaming kids having meltdowns, wanting to buy every cheapo -- but overpriced -- trinket they saw. We went to be with the grand kids and they had a great time (for the most part.)

Next time (a few years from now) we'll do Disneyland because it doesn't take all day for us to fly there; it's more compact so we don't have to take buses from an on-site hotel, and the climate is better -- the Florida humidity is oppressive.

I'm very sorry you are going through this emotionally but just know that you aren't alone in feeling this way. I am the main "planner" of trips for my family and friends and often times I feel pressure to make sure they have a good time at the expense of myself. I know, I could stop doing that but it's a character flaw. I also have a lot going on in my personal life at the moment so thinking about the cruise I'm going on in December isn't bringing me a lot of joy. This time of year can be stressful.

I would say if you still want to go, just go with the flow. No need to do the fancy events or meals. Enjoy being with your husband and daughter. Your daughter won't be this small forever so cherish these moments when you can. If you ever need to chat, feel free to send me a PM.

We're returning to the parks in 2024, almost 3 years since our last visit. I'm looking forward to it but not with all the enthusiasm I once had. Hopefully try some restaurants we haven't been to. First time ever not getting park hoppers and we're going to take a day and go to Universal, never done that before. This trip is for daughters high school graduation. Once she at college, I can see my husband and I just going for a couple of days and just being really low key. Not much park going. Looking to do things differently. Slower and relaxing. Never really considered a WDW relaxing.

Sorry I’m showing up late to thread.

i think it’s safe to say that every one of us has felt like this at one time about something. Sometimes you just can’t explain it, which can be kinda frustrating.

I sincerely hope that once you’re on your trip you’ll start to feel better about it.

Have a fun and safe trip
God Bless
Hugs ❤️

ETA….you want to come over for some Fireball shots - that’ll help you feel better :rotfl:
For others reading - she knows where I’m coming from.

We took 5 years off and did other things. I planned a trip with my younger son in 2019. I was kind of lukewarm on the whole thing, but then we kind of fell in love with it again. We made a few trips during COVID and one last year. Now I'm ready for a break again.
I think for a lot of us WDW is very nostalgic and it will hold a place in our hearts. I'm sure I'll get the itch to go back in a few years.
Have a great time.

I think sometimes, it's good to get a break from even your favorite vacation spot--give yourself time to miss it. I know the OP has gotten that suggestion, and I hope she takes it to heart. Take a break for a year--go someplace else interesting, whether it's a beach in the Caribbean or a dude ranch in Wyoming. I find I appreciate Disney much more when it's been a while--I can see old friends, and there's always new stuff, too.

Usually when I start doing my ADRs as that means I am only 60 days out. I started that on Sunday for my Jan trip. First time going in Jan and first time for Festival of the Arts. I always do 10 night stays at 3 different resorts, so three sets of ADRs to make. I will be doing the DDP again in Jan, so it makes it a little less painful with three different DDP payments. Of course I get 3 different re-fillables. Wonder if you can sell em off?
