I totally agree!
We look for a good school district first -- especially now that we have kids who will be attending public school.
Then we look for a house. We look for a good neighborhood when we're looking at the houses.
Third would be the lot. DH and I both prefer to have at least one acre. With our current house, the lot was 1.65 acres, but it was completely wooded with no grass or play area. We bought the house anyway and then paid to have some trees removed, some of the land regraded and seeded with grass.
