When would you suggest I make an ADR for Goofy's on our arrival night?

We will be arriving at the San Diego airport at 1:10 and then we need to go get our rental car. We will then head to Anaheim and stop somewhere to get food/snacks for the week. Then we will check into the Fairfield Anaheim. I'd like to have dinner at Goofy's and shop a bit at DTD on arrival night, but I'd like to have an early bedtime for Magic Mornings the next morning. Our day to book the reservation is Wednesday, so I want to pick a time. What do you think would be a safe time to book a dinner reservation?

I think a 6pm ADR would work.

6 could work but I would aim for 7pm.

SD is an easy airport to get in and out of and pick up your rental car. You can get to Anaheim about 4:30 shop in the area so you are getting off the freeway before traffic picks up.

Then if you have extra time, use this buffer to shop in DTD as you go over to the DLH for dinner.

I suggest you do as I mentioned. It will help you avoid traffic as I mentioned and allow for a more leisurely arrival at the resort.

We are just back from a trip -- we also flew into San Diego (Jet Blue) and got a rental car (Hertz). I'll just say that I was stunned at how long the rental car process was -- well, first we had to wait a LONG time for luggage, then had to wait for the Hertz shuttle. The shuttle was jam-packed, and because we weren't among the first off it meant that the line to wait for the car was long. We were only going as far as Del Mar that day, but the whole process took an hour longer than I had anticipated (landed at 7 pm on a Thursday, got to Del Mar at 10 pm -- and Anaheim is 90 minutes further north).

One thing to know is that you may go ahead and drive in the car pool lane on the 5 North, and there is a DL exit from that lane (the far left-hand lane). Definitely a time-saver.
