When would you go?

We were scheduled for a trip in June, now due to some extraneous circumstances (though not for sure yet) we may not be able to go. We will most likely try to go sometime later this year since the only thing we have already purchased that is non-refundable are the tickets. Anyway.

Reasons to go later this summer: I really wanted to take my kids to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. We wanted to experience the Summer of Heroes. Refurbishments should be at a minimum.

Reasons to postpone until later fall/Christmas time: The three year old might grow enough to reach 40" (currently just over 38"). Go at a cooler time. Might be able to stay on property and/or add days if we wait.

When would you go if you had to reschedule a trip for anytime later this year? Do you think it is likely they will extend the Heros stuff? (Mostly thinking the Avengers initiative and being able to meet Black Widow) Would it be worth it to miss the the Main Street parade in favor of hopefully be able to see the new Fantasmic!? Would there be any time considered slower over the rest of the year?

Halloween and Christmas aren't likely to change at DLR next year. MSEP and this summer's theme won't be back. Although I think there will be more Marvel stuff in the future, just probably not Black Widow, since it seems like she's only going to appear in 1 more movie, they'll probably start promoting their newer characters soon.

I would avoid anytime Thanksgiving through the end of the year. It stays pretty busy for that entire holiday time. We like mid-October at Disneyland (it's when we are going again this year).

Wow, that is a hard one. I myself have a strong bias for summer trips. The weather is more predictable. If you wait later in the year you could end up going on cold and rainy days and not be able to change dates because of hotel reservations.

I would shoot for later in the summer and feed the young one like crazy in hope of a growth spurt!

June is a great time to go to the parks. This past year June was kind of slow (for disneyland) and the weather is usually pretty nice in June as far as the temps with the cloud cover/June gloom. But Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I love everything about Disney around Halloween except the crowds which tend to be awful. Christmas time is also a fantastic time of the year as well but the crowds are really bad. The closer you get to Christmas the worse it gets. If going in December, try to go the first week. But any way you decide you will have three awesome times to go picked out so you can't go wrong. If it were me I'd probably wait until after summer is over so the railroad and the new Fantasmic is up and running.

MSEP ends Aug 20th, so if you want to see that, you'll need to go before that date.

like previous poster said, avoid week of thanksgiving and on, I took my kids during thanksgiving week last year and it was insane mad house, the crowd level was at it's peak and just walking around the park was hard. the best time we've ever been was the week after labor day (weekdays).

I'm not personally a fan of MSEP. DS and I both liked Paint the Night better. It's hard to say what your kids will like.

I do love lower crowds! That said, my next trip is starting the weekend before Thanksgiving ;) In summer, I love to go the last week of August. There is a nice lull in crowds before labor day weekend. It can be hot, but it's dry CA heat not the oppressive humidity of FL. We've done DLR in 100+ degree weather twice now and it was very doable.

No matter when you go, there will be Disney magic so go when it works for your family, budget, etc. Have a great trip!
