November or January?

We have all our reservations and tickets for November 16-22. We are/were so excited to go.

Well, over the last week a lot has come up and it looks as if we are going to have very limited funds for food, souvenirs, and any extras. :sad2:
Plus with the holidays coming up, and two concerts (in the next month) that we are going to, things will be super tight.

Dh and I were talking about it, and are considering postponing our DLR vacation until mid January. At first it sounded like a good idea, and I even put our tickets up on ebay (but I have yet to cancel our reservations).

I'm finding myself really sad over it all. I was looking forward to seeing the holiday decorations :santa: , and our trip was fast approaching. :woohoo:

BUT, the plus side to us waiting until Jan. is we will have more $$ for all the extra's, and the crowds should be lighter. :)

So if it were you're choice, what would you do?

:headache:

I suppose we could take out a line of credit to pay for all the extras. :confused3

I'm sorry to hear about the possible change in plans. The good thing is, you will still be able to go. IMO go in January. There will be much lighter crowds. I would not want to be worried about overspending the whole time I was there. Go in January and enjoy yourself!!! :thumbsup2 That's my suggestion.

Guess it depends on what time in January you want to go. Early January is still crowded. Later Janurary stuff is all closed for holiday take down. It stinks having to pinch pennies so if you want to enjoy yourself and not worry go in Jan.

IMO ... lol.. well I am going in Jan :cool1: I say wait untill u can enjoy yourself.. that is what we are having to do, but I think we will enjoy the parks being less packed!

What all is usually closed? Are there a lot of rides that are shut down, or just a few?
We were thinking of going the 14th through the 19th if we decide to postpone...

Crowds are a big issue for my dh, he has a really hard time dealing with them. That's a big factor also...

Crowds are not too bad the days just before Thanksgiving. And November would probably be much better weather-wise. Especially if you are planning an afternoon at a nearby beach. January can be rainy rainy RAINY! So even though you'll have more money to spend in January, you may be wasting all your ticket money on rainy, miserable days.

we will be there tue the 15th - the 20th.. and to me it seems like it will be a great time.. I also hate a lot of ppl, but hubby deals with it good.. but still for me the fewer the ppl the better.. I think we are going on a good week.. but then again thats just my thoughts. Hope u figure it all out :cutie:

im going the 15th - 20th

I would guarantee you that both Haunted Mansion and IASW will be down to remove their holiday makeovers. Other than that, nobody knows yet. If you go in November, Alice in Wonderland will be closed until 11/22, your last day.

I would pick November, because there is nothing like the Disneyland Resort during the holidays.

You have over a month to come up with some extra money. And do you really need extras and souvenirs? The time spent with family is worth more than anything that will end up at the bottom of the toy box or on a shelf collecting dust.

Thanks for this information! We watched IASW on youtube and that's all dd(3y)
has been talking about.

Before I read this post, I was going to still encourage you to go in November. To me, to be there when all of the decorations and overlays are up, are just sooooooooo special. Worth saving a penny or two IMO.

So now you don't have to worry as much. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: I'm thrilled for you too! :goodvibes

Have a super magical time! :santa:
