When would you go between April and June?

Hi. I hope this posts! I've been trying to post all week, but keep getting an error msg telling me it's a duplicate post, but nothing comes through :(

We are planning our first ever trip to Florida next year with our 6 year old daughter. And really as the title asks, which is the best spring month to go to avoid the busier times?

Can't wait!

Thanks.

I've never been in April but many family members have and said the weather was lovely and the crowds were manageable.

June/July/August and even September can be very hot and humid - not like heat in Spain, Greece, etc. I've vowed never to return in the summer months as the Florida :sunny: just turns me lobster pink! :teeth:

We tend to go in October and December now and are hoping for an April trip in the next few years.

From all I have read ....May seems like the best month. Still not as hot as the summer months but less crowds.
April is to be avoided I think. I really wasnted to go in the easter hols in April as I thought the weather will be much more comfortable than the summer hols and It is my dds 6th birthday in April..BUT ... IT is also one of THE most crowded times to go to Disney what with spring break and easter...AVOID!! :rotfl:

Insted we are going Late august as although v v hot at least the crowds decrease at this time and my ds is 13 so it has to be in the hols.

May is very nice. We've been twice in May.
I don't know how April is, June was more crowded than May.
So of those 3 months, I'd go for early May (not late May as you run into memorial day weekend).

Hi

Looking at soem other threads on here spring break 2006 seems to be earlier for this year, sort of march.

Try doing a search for spring break, it might help.

Over the years we've been in April, May and June. April was v busy and June was unbearably humid. This year DD and I went in mid May and IMO it was absolutely perfect - I'd really recommend going then. The weather was beautiful and the crowds weren't too bad at all. HTH. :flower:

I think late April would be ideal, for crowds and weather.
If you leave it much later you risk it being too hot.

We have been March/April/May in the past and the only real problem we had was March this year when the weather was cold (in the mornings anyway) and wet.

The climate in Florida is becoming more unpredictable, but one thing (as previously stated) the summer months are hot and humid.

We are stuck to school holidays now, my wife working as a teacher also makes it harder but at least we go for 3 weeks from next year onwards.

If I were you though I would check the flight prices etc first, travel companies these days really hike the prices up during easter and summer holidays etc - it could affect your decision. I know our fly drive price for August next year with Virgin is ridiculously expensive.

Avoid our May half term as it Memorial weekend and all the Florida schools break up. I hated it and vowed never to go back the end of May again.

We've been a couple of times in May and (apart from Halloween in October) it would be my first choice of time to go.

The crowds aren't at all bad, the weather is great (early-mid May, it gets hot and humid towards the end of May early June), and more importantly the American kids haven't started their long summer break (which begins around 2nd week in June).

May gets my vote.

We went for the first time with our DD who would then have been 5 on 9th June (plus the MIL :bitelip: ), the following two years were in May and we all much preferred it.

As general rule, May would the best month as far as the weather goes - but as others have said, to avoid the crowds, go before Memorial Day.

It really does start to heat up in June, which if you are doing the parks all day every day, can become unbearable.

April is usually a nice month too.

end of may is our fav time hot for DW for waterparks and not too busy just watch out for the gay week usaly 1st week in june

We went this year last week of May/first week of June to accommodate children in our family group (half-term plus a week) and I have never seen so much rain! :umbrella: :umbrella: Not only did we have rain almost every day, some days it was almost non-stop and the sun rarely came through during the whole holiday. On the plus side it made it easier to do the theme parks.

On Saturday 28th May I was also speaking to a teacher from somewhere in NE USA with a party of teens, and he confirmed that school had ended in his area until September, thus revealing the truth of the T-shirt slogan "3 good reasons to be a teacher - June, July and August". So they don't all break up 2nd week of June as previously posted.

I have been at this time before, a few years ago when I was teaching, and experienced the heavy rains followed by hot sun, but this year was miserable at that time (weather-wise only ;) ). There are just no guarantees I'm afraid.

The weather in March/April/May is becoming more unpredicatable.

We were there in March and it was pretty cold in the mornings and temperatures often didn't reach 70 degrees - plus lots of British type weather where it rained all day.
With the average being about 80 we were very surprised.

Hi

I will never ever going again at May half term, we flew out the 29 May for 2 weeks. As already posted the weather was dreadful. The parks were very, very busy. I found out from chatting to someone in the parks, that the kids in florida, Georgia and Louisiannea were on holiday. There were loads of school trips in the parks as well.

I have friends who always go the last week of April first week of May and they say the parks are empty and the weather is lovely.

However, I see you have a child of school age and may not want to take her out of school.

Have you thought about the end of October. The weather is usually nice then. I think the hurricans this year are the exception rather than the rule. Although it is still hurrican season until the end of Nov.

We went one year the first week in Nov. The first evening was really cool and I needed my coat, after that, it was really warm. I got a great tan, for better than this years. I think it was rust from all the rain!!!

I'm sure whatever you decide, you'll have a great time. The weather won't spoil it. It's just more fun in the sun. Although at times it is so hot, you'll pray for rain.

have fun planning

Easter gets very busy (and very expensive) so we try to go out just after the Easter weekend into the beginning of May - but still partly in the Easter holidays to avoid missing too much school. It works for us and we've never had problems with crowds & the weather has been good to us :)

I went late May a few years ago. One day of Sunshine, then rained every day. Some days lighter than others, but it did rain. One day in particular was something almost Biblical. It was funny at first, but got tiresome when it happened every single day. It didn't completely spoil the holiday, but it took a bit of the fun out of it.

I swore never to travel in May or June again (adding this to other "no-no" months like July, late August, and late December)

Hi i think that really May is the best month we have been twice in May and the weather has been gorgeous but April the weather should be good too i say this because 1st June the hurricane season starts and after this year i wouldn't chance it
