When would you go - 2023

Hi all

I am in the midst of planning a trip for late next January to early Feb. Something around Jan 25 to Feb 4.

There is a chance we may need to change those dates (a happy reason and I hope it happens).

If we need to change our plans, would you rather go early January, something like the 4 to 14 (which seems to be over marathon weekend), the week after - the 11 to 21 or over Ontario March Break - with a few extra days the week before. Something like the 8-18.

We have been twice in early Feb. Always had good weather; not rainy, not too hot and not too cold. And manageable crowds - although it doesn't seem like we can count on that anymore.

I'm torn. In theory, early January will be quieter than over March Break. How bad is it to go during the marathon? I know more rides will be down and it will be colder. March will be busier but parks will have longer hours and more shows, etc. I'm really not sure which way is "best".

My kids should be able to stay late at least a few days. We have 6 day non-hopper passes. We will buy G+ and some ILL passes.

Any thoughts? Is the March break timeframe unbearable crowd wise? I know it will be more expensive. I know it's early. But my obsessive Disney brain needs something to think about!!

Thanks

January 16 is Martin Luther King Day, so a 3-day holiday weekend for a lot of US schools and a bump in park attendance. I would actually go Jan. 4-14, even though it’s over Marathon Weekend, because the runners don’t increase park crowds that much. I agree that January 25 to February 4 would be better than either of those (it’s actually when DH and I like to go). The March dates are the start of Spring Break crowds and would be my last choice, although we’ve been part of those early March Spring Breakers in the past!

Thanks so much for pointing out Martin Luther King Day - I never would have thought of that.

It will all depend on what happens, but it seems like I shouldn't count January out! I'm tempted by the longer hours in March, but also worried the crowds will make everything insane. Although, I think there are strategies that could maybe help with that. We shall see what happens!

In the past, the early-March crowds weren't nearly as bad as this year has been, and a simple plan worked just fine. Just can't predict whether 2023 will continue same as 2022 or revert to pre-pandemic!

Does early March include to the 18th though? A March trip would likely be the 8th to 18th or something. That's Ontario March Break, but I have no idea what the US schools do.

And I realize that this year was nuts so it's totally hard to predict at the moment!

March 11-18 is Spring Break for lots of American colleges, more so than usual in one week, so it will be slammed. I would avoid it and probably the week after. I love early January as crowds are slightly smaller and prefer cooler weather. It can get rather warm in March.
