When would Port Authority get out to make decision?

Another poster just posted info saying that the port will not be open tomorrow. I don't know how accurate her source is, but she is a Floridian in the thick of it right now, so I tend to think she's got it right. Check the Hurrican Frances thread for info from Lisa Loves Pooh.

Am being told that as soon as it is safe for the Port Authority to be outside, they will assess the damage and make a decision about re-opening.

Thanks Erin. That's the news I'm expecting. It sure would be nice if we could hear something official from Disney soon. I know lots of folks are wondering what they will be doing in the morning.

Port Canaveral: Cruise ships won't be in Monday
All six home-ported cruise ships are not expected to be in on Monday, but instead it would likely be a Monday or Tuesday return, said Canaveral Port Authority spokeswoman Dixie Sansom.

"All of this is, of course, is contingent upon Frances being gone and the Coast Guard opening the port," she said. "It has to first be inspected for shoaling and for obstacles in the water before the Coast Guard makes a decision on when it can re-open to boat traffic."

The latest I've heard is that DCL will be making an announcement at 8 pm tonight...about an hour from now.

I'm wishing I was on that 9 (seems like soon to be 10) day Magic trip.......Not really, but I do love the Magic.

The airport seems to be okay... this from the weblog on www.orlandoweather.com :

5:50 p.m.

Flights will resume at noon Monday at Orlando International Airport. A preliminary damage estimate shows that there are some leaks, but they should be repaired by then. The ticket-counters will open at 10 a.m. Passengers who do not already hold tickets for flights tomorrow should call their airlines before arriving. Airport employees should report for work, and Transportation Security Administration employees should call (866) 889-2780. --Carolyn Fennell, OIA spokeswoman
