What does that mean though? My sister's family has been self-isolating for over 2 weeks. They aren't at risk for getting anyone sick. So they are okay to socialize?

Not picking on you at all. It's just going to be such individual decisions for everyone and I don't think people should judge other people for their choices.
It means when I have already gotten it and have antibodies or have gotten vaccinated. Or when their is an effective enough treatment that the risk of severe illness or death is greatly reduced.

Even if you've been 100% quarantined without any outside contact for weeks, as soon as you go back out in public, the clock resets. DH is an essential employee still going into work every day, so every time he comes home, my clock resets.

Ah, got it.

I won't be waiting for the above to happen, but no issue with those that will. :)

What industry you work in? If it’s industry. A lot of the plants here are chemical and or parts for automotive. They haven’t had any layoffs or such. Honda I heard is going back to work In a couple weeks here in Ohio and Alabama. Not sure about our Gm ford or Fiat plants and such. They usually do a summer shutdown for vacations. I kinda doubt if that happens now. We’ll see.
And of course the Bud plant is very busy. Lol. A budy of mine works at a Whisky distillery in Kentucky. They are also busy. Lots of partaking in that now.
Door panels, headliners, bumpers, seat for automotive. GM is our biggest, we have parts in 80-90%. Have something in at least 1 car of each manufacturer.

Also underlayment for artificial athletic fields. These and the auto parts are not running. We shut down after this past weekend.

I'm still working as we also make materials others use for manufacturing of packaging, some of which is used in the medical field.

Ex wife works at Lowes. Last weekend she was telling me they were selling out of Paverbase, which is a product we produce for laying patio pavers. Low and behold, Wednesday, only 3 days into 99% shutdown, 4 crews 4 people each are getting called back to produce Paverbase for Lowes starting Monday.

I'm really surprised by the breakdown on the poll. From the conversations we've been having, I thought the DIS was a more cautious bunch.

I'll go back to mostly normal as soon as we're legally allowed to do so, up to and including attending concerts as soon as they're allowed to resume and planning a road trip the first minute it is actually possible to do so. I suspect my mom will be more cautious than that if the virus is still circulating, so that is the one thing that I think might not be fully normal right away - I'm usually there, working at her house, once a week.

Until there’s a vaccine that works, how can anyone honestly resume business as usual.

Recognizing that the afflicted seem to be skewed toward immunosuppressed and elderly, we’ve been effectively brainwashed to believe that we’re bad people to congregate in public so I ask you, how can we go back to normal unless and until the brainiacs come up with a vaccine.

I plan to go to a Chinese restaurant the day they are allowed to reopen.

But beyond that I plan to be cautious.

I expect a second lock down if we are released from this lock down prior to either a vaccine being administered to those that want it or a definite treatment being developed that shortens the effects and minimized the risk of death.

I'm guessing a lot of people like me aren't voting, because I don't have a date in mind. I'm waiting for the medical experts to guide us. The poll as written doesn't really represent the community as a whole.

(just a question in general, not for you)

When people talk about a second wave, what do you consider a second wave? What it is now? A bump in cases?

Covid will never go away. We will now always have it. People will get sick, people will die every year, with or without vaccines/treatments.

So what are "acceptable" numbers that you don't think would require the restrictions we have now? Comparable to the flu numbers?

Best of everything to you.

I’ll go back to normal the second we’re allowed to. My daughter is graduating (well finishing high school anyway, I doubt they’ll actually have a graduation) and we have her grad trip this summer. Part of that trip includes seeing Taylor Swift’s Loverfest. I realize that there is a high likelihood it will be cancelled, but we’re praying it’s not, and as long it’s on we’ll be there! I don’t tend to be a worrier by nature and I have zero germaphobe tendencies. Not saying that those who are concerned about this virus are germaphobes at all.

I see a second wave as an increase in cases to the point where the concern that hospitals will be overwhelmed occurs again necessitating a lock down period.

I'll be going out to eat again once things start calming down. I'll start traveling again depending on the destination and my availability to take time off. Unfortunately, I bid all of my leave in the fall for the following year so I can't just take off later this year to get good deals -- if I could, I'd be booking some fall trips, though -- at least domestic trips.

Yes. I didn't vote either because as I said it is poorly constructed. It isn't a date. It is when we have control of the virus when it dies out, effective treatments, Vaccine, etc. When it is safe and I won't kill my loved one or someone else's.

When there is a treatment that works. OR sufficient testing capabilities to make it possible to quarantine and isolate those who DO get sick. When will that be? I don't know.

Sounds fun. Go to Disney, get temperature checked and have Disney security escort you out of the park and to quarantine. No thanks

I consider it to be a significantly jump in cases. Obviously, there will always be new cases, because as you pointed out, it is not going away.
