WHEN will Universal open up 02/08 ressies!?!??!

We're going down to Orlando in 10 months, next February. None of the online ressie systems (Universal/Loews/Expedia etc.) are showing any availability of anything at the three Loews properties at Universal during that time (ergo, they're still not taking reservations for that period yet). I guess Universal assumes nobody plans anything less in advance?

I just got off the phone with the Portofino directly on Monday, as I am trying to make ressies for January. They told me that the first part of 2008 should be in the system by early to mid June. Just keep trying.

You can also call. Occasionally you can book the rooms at rack rate and then change later if a better rate comes out. When I called, they could book my room for me but could not book my suite for my platinum status as those were still not available in the system. So, I just chose to wait until June when everything is updated and I can get the guaranteed suite at reservation.

Thanks - glad to see it's not just me. I actually went back and checked the various online systems again after I first posted this thread, and none would let me make any ressie in any of the Loews Universal properties later than December 31 of this year. Frankly, I amazed that Loews doesn't take reservations more than 6 months out - every other major hotel chain allows them by 11 months, as do airlines. Cruise lines let you book even farther out (several are already taking bookings up through the first few months of 2009).

It may have something to do with all the conferences that they book.

Yes, but you are booking within the same year.

For some reason, this year, they won't have 2008 into the database until June. And with my last call - perhaps not even until early July.

several weeks ago i was able to book for late jan 08 at rack rate and told to call back in summer (try in june to see if aaa, etc was in system yet) but i do have a confirmed booking for 1/08
