When will Tom Sawyer, Columbia, etc. open? Any ideas?

I know the schedule says summer 2017. I was just wondering if there had been any credible rumors on what month that is. Thinking of going down there in July.

Didn't they extend MSEP into August? It's possible that's a cue as to how the timeline is coming. Although I've heard rumors about the train coming back online in July.

Honestly, it's all just guesses at this point since nothing official has been released.

I hadn't heard about the msep. It indicates what i suspected though- no news is not good news. Oh well.

Thanks!

They refilled part of the rivers so some rumors make it sound like some things like Tom Sawyer Island could open in June. But who knows.

The official Disney blog said they would be announcing opening dates "soon."

I heard the island would open first, perhaps early June. I hope they get Big Thunder trail opened soon. That would help with crowds walking. It seems they could reopen the boats since the river is full, but they are still doing construction on the rock work and probably won't allow the boats to circle the island until they're done. And it's hard to say how the construction is going on the new storage area back there, and I imagine that must be completed first too.

I was going to ask if anyone knows anything about Big Thunder Trail. Does anyone know?

As lots of you know, the Big Thunder Trail closure makes DL a mess at night when fireworks are happening.

At one time, there were a lot of rumors that they were shooting for a reopening on July 17th (park anniversary), but there have a lot of rumblings that some things have fallen behind (Fantasmic, and maybe even the trains)

It is one thing to have MT and Fantasmic going and then the DLRR. But just to open the Big Thunder Trail? That should be a much lower threshold. I was hoping that would happen sooner even if the other things take longer.

At one point Disney had POSTED that stuff was going to reopen July 17. I know I wasn't imagining that. When it switched to "summer 2017"...well, I decided to wait and see.

Would it be completely crazy to go to Tokyo disney instead:scratchin

Yes, I am REALLY hoping this opens up for our early June trip. It's been beastly getting around at night without it on our last couple of trips!

From another Blog site :

D23 weekend, starting July 14, is the target for having Fantasmic, Tom Sawyer Island, and the steam trains back on line. The river has been refilled and Fantasmic is already in rehearsals, so the island and the nighttime spectacular shouldn’t have any trouble meeting that deadline. But one source said if the railroad somehow meets that date, it might mean initially operating just one train. “They don’t know how the test will go for the trains and its new ride control system,” one employee explained.

It would be a wise and reasonable choice in my opinion, as that is exactly what I decided to do. My family is going for our first visit to Japan next month, including 3 days at Tokyo Disney!! We are thrilled.

1 train?! What a mess, hope they don't try that!
