seriously, it's just over 3 months away -- I've been checking periodically for months now. WHEN will they update the prices online? I am trying to plan/budget if we're going to do Universal or not and need an idea of prices. I can't just guesstimate when there's such a huge range in prices (from $25.99 each to $69.99 each)

Unless you're going at a very busy time, I wouldn't worry about purchasing Express Plus passes until you arrive and see what the lines are like. If you purchase them ahead of time and it turns out you don't need them, you've wasted money. You can purchase the EPs at either park but if you want to budget, use the highest rate you can so if the actual prices is cheaper, you will be that much more ahead.

that's the other thing - I don't really know how busy it will be. I'm expecting I'll be able to tell by their calendar/prices since I imagine the really high prices are during peak crowd times, no?

Yes...the price is set by the anticipated crowd for that day. The busier...the more expensive.
