(When) will DVC go “negative”?

I remember planning my first trip to WDW. I honestly thought about skipping Epcot. Of the 4 parks, I had this impression that it was going to be really boring for kids and without a lot of attractions. I had this impression in my mind of it being more of an "educational" park about the future or something like that. MK was the classic Disney experience. HS had Star Wars Land, Tower of Terror, and Fantasmic, and I was very familiar with Fantasmic from childhood visits to DL. AK had animals and so I figured how terrible could it be. Epcot had this big ball and some exhibit like attractions. That was really all I knew. I was very . . . uninformed.
I can confidently say I go to Epcot more than any other park and world showcase is what I look forward to the most.

It is a disney shopper paradise for rare items you cant get anywhere else.

My cousin felt the same as you about epcot. She went years ago when there were barely any rides. That Ellen one was one of them so I can see why you thought this.

Before she went with us again she told me that she doesnt understand why they charge for epcot and thinks it should be free because you just walk around and eat and shop. Things have really changed since she last went 😆

yeah, I'm in agreement there! I love Cosmic Rewind and eating at the food booths/restaurants but if Cosmic Rewind wasn't there, I'd just go for half a day in a trip and call it done.

When did you buy okw? Why not go with ssr and lower dues for trading out instead, just wondering

I can't speak for @TheDailyMoo but since they purchased a 2042 I'm thinking upfront price?
You can speak for me! That's the main reason.

Fairly recently when even SSR was hard to get in the 90s. Small point contract which is what keeps the dues from overwhelming. Fully loaded and seller paid all dues. Unbeatable price...seller was looking to unload. Instead of messing around trying to get SSR SAP I had the bird in the hand. At worst even if I had waited for an SSR to come down in upfront pricing to make it comparable I wouldn't have had the fully loaded points with dues paid and probably wouldn't be a small point contract. Have been very successful turning those points into Poly, GF, and even a couple of nights at BC to add on to our actual BCV contract. And for most the OKW 2042 is the worst of the lot but for me it's actually desirable as I WANT it to end sooner than 2057!

We aren’t looking to add on anymore, given some of my frustrations with the program and selective rule enforcement, but when we were looking to add on, if I was buying resale, I would also have preferred 2042 contracts. First, I already have 500+ points that will not expire until after 2050 (more than I’m confident I’ll want when my kids are grown), and second, I think all resale points will get less and less valuable from 2042 on, while the dues on older associations will continue to creep up as SAP use options decrease.

Sounds like a great plan for you 😀

We picked up a loaded BWV contract on the cheap, in the middle of COVID. (figured if the world did end it wouldn’t matter anyway)🤣
We’ll be 84 & 83 in 2042, so no worries about that expiration date. The balance of our contracts will either go to the kids or, if they don’t want them, we’ll sell off when we can no longer use them. Even if they are significantly devalued by then, anything greater than $ZERO is an unexpected recoup!😃

Doesn’t that make the price drop, which also makes buying resale even more appealing? (price difference from direct)

I don’t think Disney actually starts winning until 2043.
