When / Where to buy tickets for Universal Studios Orlando

I'll be in Orlando July 13-20 and we want a one day visit to Universal Studios. Planning on buying 1 Day - 2 Park tickets, and when in the park, well decide if we buy the Unlimited Express pass (depends on crowds). My question is where and when should I buy tickets for a July 17 park visit? I don’t want to have to stand in line to wait to get my tickets, I want to buy them in advance and be able to go right to the park entrance gate when we get to the park that morning. We plan on getting there early so we’re in front of the crowd.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

July 17 looks like regular season. Undercover tourist has 1 day 2 park regular season for $183.42 (tax included), it's probably too late to order hard tickets but they say they send e-tickets that you can take straight to the gate. I've only ordered regular paper tickets so I don't know how that works. That's a small savings over ordering them on the US website, which is $180 before tax.

I've never ordered from the US website so I don't know what form that would take (i.e. if it is a voucher you need to exchange at a kiosk). There are self-serve kiosks at the front of each park. Another option is to buy tickets on the Universal app and use your phone at the entry, I have never done this either but it looks like you have to buy the tickets through the app (not the website) to use the app for entry - https://blog.universalorlando.com/visiting-us/ticket-purchase-in-mobile-app/

Thanks for the feedback .. I did a little more research today and found the same things you reported on above. When ordering off the US website, it does also give you an option for "e-tickets", so I think it's probably the same result as if ordering off the APP. I'll download the APP and see how that works.

Appreciate your help with this.

Question about the e-tickets - are there kiosks at the hotels or are they only at the park entrances?

Does anyone know when 2020 tickets will become available? I just looked for our January trip and only seems like 2019 re available.

Also, we are buying 1 day park-to-park tickets. We are looking at doing a Wednesday in January (15th). Do any people who travel midweek in January think the express pass is worth it? We usually go in November and have done the pass a few times and some trips it's been a huge time saver and others we regretted buying it as it was pretty "dead" and most things were short waits.

You can wait to buy an EP at the parks once you see if they will be needed or not. Probably your best option.
