When was the last time you saw....

driving home from Knoxville to Memphis I saw one open on Sunday:D

I saw a bunch open on I-95 when I drove to Florida a few months back.

If this counts, there's one going into St. Louis that is almost always open day or night.

They are open sometimes. When we travel on my sister's bus we even have to stop.

I've only ever seen one in my entire life and that was about 5 years ago. :)

They just built a huge one close to us. it's rare that we see weigh stations closed here.

Occasionally they, state and local police, set up a "suprise" station here in our parking lot. They devert trucks coming down the main drag for unannounced weighings and inspections. They focus in on the rigs comming from a local quarry hauling stone, if you are a little bit over weight they start a "very close" inspection of the entire truck. Most of the time when that inspection starts the rigs ends up get towed away for a violation.

LOL :teeth: My DH just asked me this question Saturday as we were driving to Michigan! I think I've only seen one open in my life. He said he hasn't seen any.

I never see them open here in Illinois. It seems it depends on the state. We did see some open when we had to drive home from DW last year.

DH always tells me he is going to pull into one because they want to weight me to make sure I'm not over the limit.

(He's just kidding, he makes me LOL):teeth: :teeth:

I see them open here. Last week they did a special check where they had an inspector taking the wheels off and checking them.

My SO used to drive a truck. He saw them open too often (and he only did day runs).:p I see them open quite frequently in Georgia.:)

When I drive to Houston most of them are open. Don't know why they are ever closed though

We are the straight away thru the country HWY 70 & it feels like it sometimes. The speed limit is 70mph on alot of the HWY, & MO has NO TOLLS. Trucks are everywhere.
That being said however I do see alot of trucks pulled over and they do the "on the spot" check with gadgets. Half of the time the station is closed near me, why?, I do not know.

I've seen a lot that are open, but I see more that are closed than open. We drive a lot, since we have a pop-up and our families live in Texas and Michigan, so I probably spend more time on the highway than a lot of people.

There are some highway patrol cars that carry very expensive truck scales in their cars. They can weigh trucks by having them drive one wheel on the scales. I don't know how they know who they should pull over, but I've seen them using those scales quite a bit around here.

I used to see one everytime I drove to my old university... It was quite active too. But haven't seen one in quite some time.

I should have clarified my location better! The one I always see open is at Collinsville on the Illinois side!:D

Mystery Machine...do you think Missouri will move to toll bridges now that Proposition B failed? People have been talking alot about it at work.
