When was DVC easiest and/or smartest to buy?

We checked out DVC after a trip in Sept. '91 and could've been perhaps one of the first owners. I read that POS from front to back. I had also recently read a book about how Eisner and Wells turned the Disney Co. around. With that book in mind (wish I could remember the title), the POS was a bit too one sided towards Disney for us to feel comfortable with the purchase.

Two years later, we bought in. DVC had a track record by then and we were heartened by changes they made in response to members. We also were able to tally what we paid for lodging and tickets over the interim two years, and found we would have spent just as much for DVC had we bought two years before, and that was comparing OKW with Moderate lodgings!

I'd have to say the easiest time to purchase and at the best price was probably from '92-'94. DVC/DVD started developing a track record so people could feel comfortable about maintenance fees, etc. It was also early enough in the DVC days to get lots of incentives, such as park passes included with stays and wonderful member get togethers where you had the opportunity not only to meet other members but people from MS as well!
