When was Disboards created?

When and who created Disboards.com? I've noticed on some signatures that people have been members since 1999. I found Disboards in April of 2005. I'm surprised it took me that long considering what a Disney freak I am.

I'm sure someone else knows better them me, but I think 1999 was the time of the *big crash* and everyone had to re-register which is why you don't see any dates before then. I think I was dis-ing at least 2 years before then. I remember when there were only a couple of boards and everyone was told to stay on-topic all the time. It was a bit thing when we got a community board.

Definately pre-1998. That's when I found the DIS, and it was already an established community with more than one board. Mind you, there probably weren't more than 3 or 4 boards, but there was more than one.

At that time, Pete Werner had more of a "presence" on the boards, and everyone knew who he was. Anyway, it all belongs to him...the whole empire!! (Thanks Pete!!)

I found the DIS in January, 2000 and survived a couple of crashes that year! Lost over 400 posts in "the big one"...LOL!! I think there were only a few boards back then, but I've been a faithful follower ever since. Even when not planning a trip, I come here often.....OK, who am I kidding? I'm here every day, trip or no!!

I love how much the DIS has grown over the years but it was really great when it started too. Back then Pete had time to post and answer questions himself.

Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the Dedication Link. I think so many times people get referred to the boards and don't ever explore the rest of the site. So many of the basic questions can be answered if newbies would just explore this one site.

I found this site in the summer of 1997 while looking for boards concerning the Disney Vacation Club. At the time, there were three bulletin boards, a DVC board, a Themepark/trip planning one and also a Recipe one which Pete said was for sharing recipes we used in our DVC villas. There have been several update, crashes, increases (many increases) in bandwith and increases in members and boards since its inception. At that time (1997) there were not the ticket, information, hotel/restaurant advice, special events sections, just the BB's. I have checked the boards pretty much daily since then except when I am on vacation, in WDW of course! It's hard to believe that this has been going for more than nine years!

I remember way back. My sister sent me a link and for some reason I never explored and thought there was just one board. She came to visit and I aksed her how she had so many posts and she showed me the oher boards. I've been hooked ever since. I know I was here through a few crashes and I have 1999 as my date, but I really don't know when it was that I joined up.

I've lost thousands of posts in crashes. It's been a while since we had one. That says a lot for the ones who maintain the DIS.... I came here looking for advice for guests with disabilities for my September 2001 trip.

I know I found it before July, 1998. I was so clueless, for about 6 months I figured you had to pay to post (first time having the internet). Once I figured out I could register and post for free, I registered, using our "brand new kitten's name" as my screen name. Now Simba's an 8 year old cat.

I found the board in 2000. I was pointed in this direction by someone from the Mycoupons board when I was reseaching for our first trip in November 2001. I lurked for months before joining. It has been amazing to watch the boards grow the way that they do. But, it has also been sad to see so many familiar faces leave over the years. The other day I was looking at some dis meet threads for when my family will be in disney and I kept thinking, hey, I don't know any of these people LOL

Yup. It's still the same old cesspool it became in the 1990s. I check in there every few months, just to keep the D&Gers marginally honest.
