I was told by my relative that is getting us her cast member discount that we were not going to be able to make a room request. I thought we still could. Does anyone know the answer to this? Could we call ourselves after she books this and ask?

She said they put you wherever since you are getting the discount. She said usually they are the least requested rooms.:confused3

Room requests are not guaranteed anyways so why would it matter if you submitted one or not? I have heard this "you have a discount, you get the leftovers" thing before and I just don't buy it. Why? because about half of my non-business stays are on an AP rate and I have never not gotten an upgrade or whatever I have requested. Most of my other stays are on some sort of other discount and its the same story there. Now I know that you are talking about a CM discount but I refuse to believe that the room assigner is going to blatantly ignore your request just because you have the type of discount you are getting (unless you are asking for "too much").

It may work the way it does on the cruise line. You will get your request after all regular guests get their requests if you are a CM.

When a CM books a room on line they can only check mark a box if they need special accomodations for those with disabilities.
Other than that the CM cannot provide any requests, just general info.
That being said I have booked rooms expecting to get the leftovers and the least liked in that category. Instead I have gotten fantastic rooms! :cool1:
So it is luck of the draw. But don't look at it as you will get the less desired rooms.
It's like booking any res -- book what you want and hope for the best.
If a CM tries to call in to book they will be told to book on line.

A FL CM can book OGB (Other Guest Bedroom). And I think it is limited to FL CMs. I had to book a room for a CA friend whose son, a CA CM could not book a WDW OGB res.

Yes, you can make a request. After your relative makes the reservation for you (on-line or over the phone) you should receive a confirmation just like a regular reservation. After you have your conf. # you can call and add a request. It is however, like any request.... just that a request. Just a side note reservations made with a CM discount are not filled with the leftovers. CMs can book different rooms just like anyone else (Tower view, water view, pool view, etc) it just depends what is avail at the time. I agree with Luv2Roam we always stay under a CM discount and we get great rooms!

What is the CM discount these days? My uncle is a longtime CM, but I've never bothered him for a rate because I always assumed the AP or FL resident discount was probably about the same....

I just did this for last week's trip. You need to call the cast line and have them put your request in. It isn't a problem.

I always made room requests when I was a CM and no one ever said anything to me. I even got a water view once when I just asked to be on the first floor and all my other room requests were met. I don't think they'll punish you if you're a CM, I actually think they try to accomodate everyone the best they can.

yes, you can put in a request.
my sil booked our trip at FW twice and although, it was'nt a "room" it was a "Loop" at the campground..... but still we had her request certain loops 2 years in a row - and got lucky both times :cutie:

So is there a special number that I need to call once we get our confirmation number? Or do I call the regular WDW number?
The discount is 40% off. We are staying at the Poly. My understanding is that some of the resorts would get the 50% and some 40%.

I think you need to call the cast line -- sorry I don't have that number handy.

The discount is 50% if the CM is staying in the room, 40% otherwise (all based on availability of the discount) unless they are running a special deal.
