when traveling with extended family, who does the cooking?

we are planning an extended family vacation, and considering a GV. It will be my dh and kids, my husband's father, his younger single brother, and his other, married brother, his wife and their son (6 adults and 3 four yr olds).

We have never travelled with them before. My concern is: who will actually do the cooking? my single brother-in-law, my dh, kids and I are big meat eaters, and my brother in law and his wife are real veggie-heads, not eating anything that casts a shadow). so we already know our cooking styles are very different to say the least.

which makes me wonder if we should get separate, smaller rooms so we can all cook our own meals, or just plan to eat dinner out every night.

any thoughts?

Do YOU want to cook for all those people? I sure wouldn't want to! :sad1: I mean, what kind of trip is that for the one person unlucky enough to be stuck with KP duty. You could always split things up, so that each group is responsible for dinner one night, that would be more fair. An even better idea is to eat out--I don't cook at home, so why would I cook on vacation? :teeth:

The only meals I ever plan to cook in the room is breakfast, no matter if it is just us or if the extended family comes too. And that is usually pretty routine, eggs and sausage with toast. Dinner is always eaten out.

IMHO...the bigger issue would be having 3, 4 year olds runing around in a GV...always trying to climb the stairs or getting down the stairs..alone!!! :scared1:

The safety issue is important! :flower:

I would get a 2 bdrm for your family, dad and single brother and a 1 bdrm for the other family!! Cooking then wouldn't be an issue!::yes::
