When to wear a birthday button

I was there for my birthday in June. We were only there for a long weekend, so I wore it both days we were in the park, which was the day before my birthday in Epcot and my actual birthday in MK. Didn't feel strange to me at all. In fact, it made it my best birthday ever. :)

My daughter's 9th birthday is going to occur during our next trip. We're planning on getting her a button the first day, and letting her wear it the entire trip. Why? Its her birthday. She's 9. She's at Disney.

As a CM, I hardly cared whether I was wishing "Happy Birthday" to someone whose birthday was that day or whose birthday was six weeks ago. The point of the buttons is to indicate that you are celebrating- and if you are taking a trip 6 months after your birthday, you're still welcome to celebrate it in my eyes. I just couldn't care less.

That being said, I myself have never worn a bday button in the parks on a day that wasn't my actual bday.

Our first park day of our trip next month is the day after my birthday, so I will absolutely get a button for Epcot that day. Will I wear it the entire 10 days we are there? Unlikely. Will I wear it two day later at MVMCP? Possibly. A birthday weekend celebration is totally plausible :)

If my daughter who just turned 7 this week wanted to wear one, I wouldn't say no. Same with my son who turns 10 in Dec.

My daughter definitely wore one 2 years ago over halloween (a few weeks pst bday).

I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I'm a little jealous that only DH will have a pin to wear on our upcoming trip for his birthday long weekend. Maybe I'll wear one that says "I'm Celebrating" and I'll write underneath "his birthday" lol.

One trip we took with my parents who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and my daughter who turned 5 that trip. I got tons of stuff from cast members because I was the one left out with no button. (Like pins free ice cream, etc )I thought that was very sweet. Also that was an amazing trip.

My kids turn 5 and 3 day 2 and day 3 of our trip. I'm sure they will wear them the entire time. My birthday is 2 days after we leave and I doubt I will wear one any day of our trip.

I usually get one and wear it the entire trip too when the trip is to celebrate my birthday.
Last trip we celebrated my wife's and son's birthdays (two days apart! lol!) and they wore their
pins the whole week.

I've been to Disney for my birthday twice. The first time, we were there for 2.5 days, and my birthday was departure day (the .5 day). I wore the button for the whole trip. It was also my 30th, so I was trying to be happy about that birthday. LOL. We went back the following year for a week and I only wore it the day of.

My opinion...it's not a big deal. It's just a button. I don't care who's wearing what button when. If you're celebrating something, wear the button if you want!

My daughter wore her birthday button all week - she liked getting the birthday wishes.

One day I'll take a birthday trip and I'll wear my button the whole trip.

My family is spread across three states. Our last trip was close to my nephew's birthday. He insisted we never celebrate his birthday when we are all together (not true), but that we celebrate his sister's together all the time. it wasn't fair! So I joked that because my birthday was only a month and a half before the trip it wasn't fair that we didn't celebrate my birthday, too. Well, mom got us both buttons, and she made us wear them the entire time. I really wore mine because my nephew was embarrassed to be the only one wearing a button. ;)

Aside from the occasional "happy birthday" from CMs, I didn't get anything special just for wearing a button. Maybe some do, and that's their motivation for wearing one, but consider this, folks; lots of families are celebrating something special at DW. Some come together from long distances to celebrate all those birthdays, anniversaries, and special accomplishments they couldn't be together for throughout the rest of the year. When I'm at DW I don't feel silly wearing a button, meeting a princess, waving during a parade, clapping along with the Country Bears (I usually start it)... I check those silly adult inhibitions at the gate.

I love wearing a Birthday pin if I'm at Disney for my Birthday day. And if it's a celebratory few days, I wear it for all those days. That's just me...

and im also one that tears up as I watch rope drop at MK, and have a very special place in my heart for Port Orleans Riverside since it was a true focal point as I fought my battle thru cancer and my Amazing Dh planned a celebration trip for our return "home" after final treatments.
So Yup, I celebrate when Ever I can and Love All that Disney Magic and Xtra Special little things like Bday Pins, that Disney offers. Enjoy Every Day :)

We were attending the Dine with an Imagineer several years ago. It was July and a young woman at the dinner was completely decked out in tiara, sash, and birthday button. She was celebrating her 18th birthday that had happened in February. I thought that was pushing it but tried to disguise my shock. As we left, my 14 year old with January birthday, leaned over and whispered,"Let's all go get a birthday button." I nearly died from holding in the laughter.

I am here for my birthday and my daughter's birthday. She has worn hers all week, but I only wore mine yesterday on my actual birthday.

It was kind of cool having so many people wishing me happy birthday. And I did get a free dole whip float for wearing it. That was an incredibly lovely surprise.

Disney is the one place where we adults are allowed - and encouraged! - to "never grow up". I say wear the button however and whenever you please!

My 7 old is sad that his little sister went on her actual birthday last year so we told him one day could be his "birthday present"... 3 months after his birthday. Yes, I will get him a button and he can wear it all he wants. It's Disney! Happy Time!
