We've decided to get ourselves an Owner's Locker. After reading all of the experiences and ideas on how to use it, we're convinced. I can't wait to have a trip to Disney with carry on only.

My question is - how long in advance of your trip did people sign up? We aren't going for about another six months, but everything else for the trip is done (tickets, airfare, resort, etc). Yes, I'm (insert appropriate word here) for having everything done so long in advance.

Is there such a thing as signing up too far in advance?

If you are like me & have a thing about crossing things off the to-do list I would go ahead & sign up now while you are thinking about it.

You are not charged for your locker until 30 days prior to arrival & the annual fee isn't charged to your card until the locker is returned & you are on your way home.

BTW - We  our OL!

Gee MinnieGirl, You're better at this than I am!!

No, Tigerrr, you can't sign up too far in advance. The sooner the better for us because it helps us plan. (And, no, you wouldn't be the first person signing up six months in advance!) You can also start using the online inventory to list the things you're going to include in your Locker. And you can schedule as many Visits as you'd like and modify them all you want. A planner's dream!
Thanks for asking
John

I can't really answer your question.......but.........I think you are making a good choice! We love our owner's locker.

John,

We would like to thank you again for such a great service. We had grand ideas for the contest that were unfortunately spoiled by the persistant rain last week.:umbrella:

I think I'll start campaigning to be the official OL Spokesperson!

Might have some competition here on the DIS. I know many people are extremely happy with the service.

You have competition from ME! I wanna be the official OL Spokesperson!

I can't tell you how much I love and apprecaite this service. Since we go, on average, 5 times a year for long weekends, we are 'carryon' travelers. Knowing we have our toiletries, extra shoes, hats, hoodies, coffee, and now fitted sheets, sure does make packing easier.

We just returned from a F & W stay at BCVs and we are returning after Thanksgiving for a 4 night stay with friends at OKW (we combined points) LOVE LOVE LOVE my locker. More Stuff Less Luggage!!!

Just to restate something really important here....be sure to keep a log of what you gave left in your locker!!! Mine is chock a block full....do you think I can remember exactly what I left in there? Nope. And I was so sure I would. So....when I return in Dec, and I open up my purple locker, you can be sure that I will have that list sheet in my hand, so I can fill in what is in the locker!!!!!
Man, I love my locker!!! I'm thinking of going with just a carryon bag in Dec.

I didn't want to waste my time while in WDW making lists, so I just took a bunch of pics (also wanted to show just how much fits in an OL) and made my list after I returned home.

Thanks everyone for their feedback. We went ahead and signed up. Now I have only 6 months, 2 weeks and 1 day to figure out what to put into it. I scanned some of the other threads on this and my preliminary list has 79 items on it. I have a box at home that is exactly the same dimensions as the locker, so watch me try to tryout the items to see what fits. :woohoo:

tiggerrr,
the best way to keep track of what is in your Locker is to use the confidential on-line inventory function in your Dashboard--that's what we call the My Account section of the OL site. You can also use this to build the list of things you plan to store in your Locker and edit it along the way. PM me if you need some help using this function.
Welcome aboard!!
John

What if you start out at one resort and then switch to another, can you take the locker with you? Or do you need to leave it at the 1st resort it was dropped off at? Can you only use it at a DVC resort?
THANKS!

You can take it with you. When you schedule a visit, you specify which resort for them to drop it off at and which resort to pick it up from, and they can be different. There are a large number of resorts, all of which are listed on the Owner's Locker site under the Features & Benefits section. www.ownerslocker.com

This should explain it all!!!

Thanks:thumbsup2

sounds like a great idea if you travel to WDW all the time or travel throughout Florida only.

Would be great if they did it all over the U.S.

With the amount of stuff that I pack it would not be worth the storage.
Would also be great if it was a locker that when you purchase stuff at Disney you just frop it all in a locker and they ship it all home for you so you dont need to lug it on the plane :thumbsup2

FWIW, Disney will ship your purchases home.

We just got home last Friday from our Food and Wine fest stay at the BWV and scheduled our trip back to the food and wine fest next week. Can anyone beat the locker turn around time of 12 days? And remember, we are from Michigan, too. NWA must love us!! Detroit to Orlando is 2 hours and MCO to Disney is 45 minutes via the great service called Magical express....
