on a 7 day cruise- do we schedule palo on sunday night and guessing that we'll get apl rotation miss the parrot's cay dinner (have children and assuming we'll probaley get that rotation...) with an 6:00 dinner so we can see show risking children not happy with a too new environment in kids club and possible sea sickness or.....
do palo dinner on tues night after day in port...then when do we want to do a brunch...on thursday....
I am so confused...am I thinking too much?
Haven't even thought about which of the nights will be formal....maybe too much info!!

This was a difficult decision for us as well. We are hoping to get the APLAPLA rotation with our REAS package and then we are going to do Palo on - - - well we are still deciding but need to decide by the end of the week. So many things to think about!!! but at least they are all fun things to think about... - Mike

I know you have to make reservations to dine at Palo's, but do they also charge separately for the meal? If so, about how much does a typical meal run pp? Thanks!

Palo has a $10 cover charge per person. This is the only cost associated with this meal and is intended as a tip for your meal (though most people leave an additional tip as well). - Mike

I really thought about "when"..
Finally came to the conclusion that there really isn't a bad time to have dinner at Palo. I got it on a sea day so didn't worry about rushing back after a day of excursions etc.

Cheers,
Grumbo

smahoney6 - You don't say if you will be on the Eastern or Western itinerary. If you are on the Eastern Sundy is Formal night. If you are on the Western then Monday is Formal night.

You also don't mention the ages of your children. If they are older than, say, 9 or 10 they can go to dinner without you. Our kids did this when we went to Palo and they had a great time. Our servers took good care of them.

We at at Palo on a Tuesday night and we felt it was a good choice. Our kids went to dinner in the dining room and then went back to the room when they were done. We picke them up there after our dinner and we all went to the show.

Also, remember that there is no show on Tuesday nights (usually a movie is shown in the Walt Disney Theater) so you could take your kids to dinner at your scheduled dining room yourselves, have an appetizer there and then drop them off in their clubs when you head to Palo.

Michelemouse - Thanks for this advice. Back to the planning room again. Don't want to miss any shows if at all possible. Thanks again - Mike

Formal night is monday for the 7-day Western cruise. I also hope to have the APL seating so we can see the animators change colors the first night. we have the REAS and want Palo's for Tuesday after leaving port at Grand Cayman.

Sat. Depart Port Caniveral 5pm Aminators Palate---Casual
Sun Key West 12pm-10:15pm Parrots Cay---------Casual
Mon Day at Sea Lumiere--------------Formal
Tue Grand Cayman 7am-5:30pmAnimators ----------Casual
We would have already seen colors change so Palo's
Wed. Cozumel10am-11pm Parrots Cay--------Tropical
Thurs Day at sea Lumiere-------------Semi formal
Fri Castaway Cay 9am-5pm Animators Plate-Casual
Hope this helps ! :wave2:

mamo-4-wdw - That is exactly what we have penciled in right now for our Palo reservation. We have the spa penciled in for Sunday morning(wanted to do this before we got to much sun). - Mike

michelemouse-
That's what I needed! I didn't know that there was no show tues night so we could do dinner with kids at 6:30 and then go to palos at 8:00!! (right??)
does this sound right?
Our kids are younger- 8 and under so they would need to be in the club...

Actually dinner is at 6:00, not 6:30 so you'd definitely have plenty of time to take the kids to the regular dinner and then head to Palo. I would guess that a 7:30 Palo reservation would be perfect.

But...this only works on the Eastern. I forgot that on the Western it is Wednesday night that has no show. You could follow the same plan on Wednesday night if you are on the Western.

michelemouse- you are such a great help! we are on the eastern cruise and I am so excited! being such a planner- i wanted to think this thing through and figure it out. any other help/advice you want to send this way would be greatly appreciated!

Great info! Just what I was trying to figure out. Boy I had no idea there was no show on Wednesday. We are on a 7 day Western on April 24th. Our kids are 11 and 9, so I am assuming we will get the P?? rotation.

Does this sound right to everyone?

Thanks for all the great info. This is our first cruise ever and we are soooo excited. Really want to get a nice romantic evening in. Tuxes are ordered, gown is bought, just need to pick the right night.

Thanks again.

Tandy,

While you will probably get the PLA rotation it is not a definite. Our kids were 8 & 11 on our last cruise and we received the LAP rotation so you never know.

And at their ages you kids will probably be fine dining alone, as long as you are comfortable with it. Our kids dined alone the night we did Palo and our servers took great care of them.

CAMICKEY I hadn't tought about the "too much sun" thing. I will be changing my pencil in from Thursday to Sunday!:smooth:

Tandyc: I think you can change your rotation after you get on the ship if you don't like itfor some reason. I read that you go to the "______" desk and they will change it for you. (I hope some one can fill in the blank, in the mean time I will search and find out the name.)

I am glad they don't have a show on Wed. I thought we would be missing it because that night we will be taking a carriage ride in Cozumel.(my 45th B-day)::yes::

mamo-4-wdw - Actually I have to give credit to my DW for the "too much sun" problem. I certainly agreed with her though. - Mike
