Hello all. I just booked my family's trip for late February 2013, and we're going to be doing two character breakfasts. I'm arriving on Saturday the 23rd, doing our first park day that day as soon as we get there, then we'll have 4 full days in the park Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, then a day to do other Cali stuff Thurs, then leaving Friday. We're staying at PPH, so we'll have EE...

We're doing Minnie & Friends and Surf's Up... my thought was to do Surf's Up on Thursday (not a park day), but for Minnie and Friends, when should I do it? Do they have reservations before early entry starts (which I would imagine would be 9 am on those dates)?

I would do Mon, Tues, or Wed. The park will likely open earlier on Sunday vs maybe as late as 10am during the week which leaves tons of time for breakfast before you get to the park.

For a February mid-week stay, I would go to Surf's Up on a day where neither park opens until 10am to all guests. I would make a Surf's Up ressie for 8am on that day, and then at 9am head to EMH. I am doing that for our stay in late January. That way, you don't waste time on your Cali day.

The character breakfasts in the hotels are great, because they can give you an extra Disney hour, on top of the EMH. I wish they'd do that for Minnie & Friends. But for DLR guests, eating at Minnie's will always cost you ride time. For non-DLR guests, you can eat at Minnie's during Magic Morning, even without a Magic Morning ticket, so that is the only way Minnie's adds an hour to your experience.

I don't have a suggestion to as to what specific DAY, but we did Minnie and Friends at their first available time (0810 on an 0800 park opening... no MM available that day) last week and I would DEFINITELY get the earliest available. We got to enjoy a few extra minutes of calm and peace before everyone else showed up and probably got a little more character time as well as not having to wait in a long omelet station line.
