When to purchase?

I think we've pretty much decided to buy into DVC. We've already got a trip planned for the 2nd week of August though (paying cash for a regular resort room). If we buy a resale contract now, is there any chance that we could use it for our August trip? We are planning on getting enough points for a studio at BWV or BCW and we have a family of 5 so we won't be able to stay at SS or OKW (I know these are the easiest to get into) without having more points to get into a 1- (OKW) or 2- (SS) bedroom in order to sleep 5.

Thoughts? Should we wait a little while then? Or would you go ahead and get a contract now even though we won't be able to use the points this year?

Why didn't you rent a reservation from an owner for your next stay?

the sooner you start the process the more likely you are to be able to use your points this year, as long as you don't mind where you stay you'll probably be ok for August.

We will be vacationing in August regardless. We didn't rent because we were happy with just getting a room through Disney. We booked this trip back in September. We didn't start considering DVC until recently. We are aware of the pros and cons and have been analyzing it quite a bit over the last several weeks. We've run the analysis to make sure that it makes financial sense. For us, we wouldn't be considering it if it didn't work out financially in our favor. We plan to vacation at Disney every year or at least every other year.
