when to make room requests

We will be going to OKW (2 bdrm) December 5-10. Does anyone out there know the best way to make room requests? Should I fax or call? When do they actually assign rooms? Thanks for your help. This will be our first time in a DVC timeshare.

The best way to make requests is to have MS put them on your reservation. There have been several posts here that indicate faxing does no good and in fact, request faxes are not even looked at. There are just too many of them. I have read that VWL isn't accepting them at all.

To the best of my knowledge, rooms are assigned approximately 3 days in advance.

Ask MS to list your requests in the order of importance to you. We generally list N/S first as that is the only one that really matters to us. It's best to make your requests as general as possible. The more requests, the less likely it is that they will be granted.

I agree with Carol. I request n/s when I make the reservation, and sometimes I mention a view that I would like. Then I put it out of my mind, so that I'm not disappointed with whatever I end up with in the end.

Too many people have had their vacations ruined because they didn't get the "perfect" room during their stay. I'd rather stay in the worse DVC room than stay off property... or worse - stay home! The only thing I really care about is that I get my non-smoking for medical reasons, and I've always gotten that.
