When to make room requests?

Does it matter when you let MS know about your room requests. We always indicate non-smoking when we make our reservation...but we usually call back months later when asking for location or view requests. Does this matter to them? DOes the room assignor know when we put in that request and give preference to somebody asking for the same thing earlier than we did?

I gotta believe it doesn't matter...but just wondering....

No, it doesn't matter. No preference is given based upon how far out the requests were made or even how far out the reservation itself was made.

In fact, most times there doesn't appear to be a "room assigner" at work with regard to DVC reservations. They use a "room ready" system in which the check-in agent will try to place you in an acceptable room at the time you arrive at the front desk. Still, it's wise to have your requests attached to your reservation before you arrive so that you have all of your bases covered.

Tkraz is correct, and the only time I think they actually use a room assigner is for those reservations that have "for medical reasons" marked on them. I know in my case, having asthma, they have that marked on my reservation, and they do NOT let me check into a room until it has been inspected. They also have me assigned to a specific unit when I check in, and I have to wait specifically for that unit, wherever it might be.
