When to Leave Them Alone?

We do it the opposite!! I'm such a chicken (well not so much a chicken - I got serious motion sickness on many rides!):tilt:

My DD9 rides the rides alone that I don't like and I WAIT by the exit. Different I know since WDW is like the neighborhood playground for her and she is VERY comfortable in her surroundings! I do not feel uneasy at all doing this - some queues I will wait with her, others I just go immediately to the exit while she gets in line.

Thank you all. I really have to think it over. I am very protective. When we go to the park I am always in arms reach of my kids. Public restrooms, even though my son hates it and I have had wierd looks and even had a lady verbally attack us, I take my son in with my DD and I. You just never know when perverts are around. I really dont know. I will come up with something by then. I could take my sister (17) shes another wus :rotfl: (jp) along with us. I really don’t mind missing TOT, RnR, Space & Splash. DD really LOVES BTMR, we rode that over 8 times the last trip and EE. We both really want to get on EE. Those are the only two rides. Anyways, thank you all for your opinions, it really did help.

Hi All

I just wanted to get different views, we are heading back in February, my 9 yo DS doesnt ride the Mountains, EE or TOT, etc but my 7 yo DD does. Have any of you ever left a 9 yo at the exit to wait for you. I am a single momma and it is just the 3 of us going this time around. I don't know if I am being overbearing with him. Is 9 really old enough to be left alone??

We are DL AP's and WDW frequent guests. My DD JUST turned 10 and although I may leave her home alone to run to the grocery store or a quick trip out during the day if she chses not to come, my DD is VERY mature and I wouldn't leave her in the park alone for 5 seconds.

Hope that helps.

Sounds as if you are a very concerned parent or you would not even be questioning what is best. As I have said before only you can know what is right for you and your child and I know you will make your decision accordinly...Whatever you choose I wish the very best time for you and your family extra pixie dust your way and have a safe trip

I'm jumping in with another vote for the chicken exit idea. You would all be together until the very last minute of getting on a ride, then he could wait for you (which on some of the rides may only be 5 minutes or so). I have 3 kids, 12, 10 and 9 -- and time has a funny way of stretching out for them when they are alone....5 minutes can feel like an hour when you're waiting for someone.
