When to go? When to go? This first timer doesn't know...

<--- That is pretty much how I am whenever I start planning another Disney world vacation....

<--- That is pretty much how I am whenever said Disney world vacation has to get cancelled for one of a zillion reasons.

This NEXT Disney world vacation I am planning, however.... will NOT get cancelled. I repeat, will NOT get cancelled. I don't care if I have to go ALONE.

So... ---> <--- This is me now.

I will be graduating with my degree in Culinary Arts in AUGUST 2013! (I'll graduate with my diploma this December) And I am going to Disney world as my reward for all my hard work, burns, cuts, sweat, and did I mention hard work?

My question is about when to go. I said I would be graduating in August of 2013... however I will not go in August... too hot, and I don't want my first time to be remembered for misery and sweat stinging my eyes.

Also, as a chef I'm going to want to be present for FOOD AND WINE festival!

So, early October? Or first week in November? Seems that both are usually comparable in price, but as far as crowds and weather go... which one is better?

By the way, my name chefsparrow, comes from my desire to find a way to put rum in almost everything, and I'm known for asking "But, why is the rum gone?"

We love going in October and the last few years have gone the last week of Oct/first week of Novemenber. Not too hot, usually not too cold...just right. Halloween decor is out, Holidays in the air, F&W, MNSSHP. It is a great time of year.

Thanks for the response! I was beginning to think that all the seasoned DISers had grown tired of answering the same ole questions from newbies like me, lol!

I'm super excited! Which might have been inferred since I am planning a trip way before Disney will actually allow me to book it. Since you have visited in this time frame maybe you wouldn't mind expanding on what I can expect?

Do they take the Halloween decorations down right after Halloween? If they take them down, does it go straight to Christmas decor?

if you go in October you can visit the food and wine festival at Epcot. Chefs from all over come to present food and the food represents different cuisines.

The restaurant board will have quite a bit of information about last year's festival. Here is a brief description from Disney's site.

Do they take the Halloween decorations down right after Halloween? If they take them down, does it go straight to Christmas decor?

We arrived last year on November 1. Our first park day was at MK and it was full-swing Halloween mode (the last MNNSHP was that night). The next morning we got to the Studios and it was in full-swing Christmas mode, right down to the giant Christmas tree outside the gates and the Christmas carols blaring away at Mama Melrose, where we ate lunch.

It was really disorienting.

October can be good but make sure you get trip insurance as it is still hurricane season till November 30th. Sure dont want a nasty storm to ruin your trip.it will also hopefully be cooler by then and the parks are decorated for the season.

Wow... that does sound like it would be rather strange! I wouldn't mind seeing it all dressed up for two different seasons, but I can definitely understand how it could make it confusing!

Makes me wonder just how in the world they pull off such a massive un-decorate and re-decorate in just one night!

Hadn't really thought about trip insurance. I would hate to have a huge storm wipe out our vacation!

So, how does the insurance work? Have you ever had to use it? Thanks for reminding me that Disney offered that!
