When to go to DLR?

My husband and I would like to take a trip to California within the next few years. We have been to WDW multiple times - and would love to see Disneyland as well. Does DLR have a 'value' time of year, like WDW? When are the times of lower (and higher) attendance? Any other information would be great! Thanks!

We always go in the spring during the week to avoid crowds. The weekends tend to get very crowded from locals and tourists - and I'd stay away during the holidays because it's crazy crowded.

If you have not read Hydroguy's tips above, then I would to help get you started.

I would start with reading the above thread if you have not.

Thanks so much for this link. I just absorbed the whole thing and it really helps me get an idea of the differences at DL. There was only one thing I read that really left me brokenhearted.

The peoplemover was removed from Tomorrowland???? Whatever for?:confused3 That's my family's favorite ride. We were looking forward to riding the original. Boy you DLer's must have been up in arms when they did that...:sad2:

When Saturday is blacked out (as it is for some season passes pretty much all year), is it still a good idea to avoid Saturdays?

In other words, are Monday through Thursday still the best days to visit as far as avoiding the largest crowds?

It totally depends on time of year.

During summer there is a 7 week blockout period so that is a time to avoid Saturdays and weekends in general.

We went on a Saturday in mid-May in 2009 and I was shocked at how low the crowds were. During that time weekdays would have reduced entertainment and, yes, lower crowds. But also lower park hours. Often when crowds are lower in off-season DLR operates rides at reduced capacity. Not as many POTC boats, for example. BTMMR has five trains they use at peak capacity but they may only use 2-3. So it is not like all rides are a walk-on. Some will be and some will not.

Removing the PeopleMover was a mistake. :upsidedow

But DL has kept many things that MK removed:

Main Street Cinema
Penny Arcade
Golden Horseshoe
canoes
Mr. Toad
submarines
a good (Iago-free) Enchanted Tiki Room

And DL has Indiana Jones. :thumbsup2

:earsboy:

Thanks for that. We are planning on going the last week in April and I feel very overwhelmed and underprepaired. At least its a start.

Looks like out planned day Thur April 29th will be a good choice. I hope so.
