Hey Disney Family. I am planning a trip for 2022 and am trying to decide when to go. We have been several times, but usually in October. This year since my kids are older and have a traditional school schedule, we are going either spring break (week before Easter) or July. Our very first trip as a family was in April around Easter and I remember how crazy it was then. I also remember going to Disney in July as a kid and remember it was HOT. I am leaning towards July (week of the 10th) because I am hoping that some of the new rides will be available by then (keeping my fingers crossed for Tron and Guardians). But, for you veterans, which one do you think will be less crowded and more enjoyable? And do you think either Tron or Guardians will be ready by then (I think Guardians will be more likely).

Among all your options, I would go with mid July.
My family usually visit WDW towards the end of July or first week of August. But this summer I chose to visit the park during the 4th of July week (7/3-7/9) with the thought that parks would be operating with reduced capacity...NEVER AGAIN will I be in WDW during any holiday weeks!!!! Oh the crowds and rude people everywhere!!!

During the end of July or the first week of August, the crowd would be manageable. We are FP+ people so I would just line up 6-7 FP+ everyday to avoid the agony of standing in line under the hot sun. I don't know how the game plan would be if FP+ is the victim of Thano's snap. The weather would be hot and humid. We are from North NJ where the brutal winter weather is 6 months long. The thought of Floridian summer is what gets us through the freezing winter. Remember to drink water throughout the day, take mid-day break. Bring a nice neck fan and rain jackets for the afternoon storm (rains everyday in the afternoon around 2pm for about an hour or so).

With regards to Tron and Guardians opening date, no one really knows as Disney hasn't released any info.

Thanks! I remember how bad it was during our first trip. If we weren't able to switch to October trips, I don't think we would have fallen in love with Disney as much as we have. But yeah, I am trying to avoid the insane weeks (which is why I didn't even include Thanksgiving or Christmas week).

I am nervous about dealing with the July humidity, but will definitely bring neck fans, cooling towels and rain jackets (our daughter plays travel softball, so we should be prepared with some accessories). We haven't been as a family since 2017, so I know my kids will enjoy doing some of the other newer rides (Star Wars rides if we can passes, Toy Story and Ratatouille), so if Tron or Guardians isn't open, while disappointing, there will at least be other new rides to explore. But I am really looking forward to Tron, so hopefully it will be ready to go when we do go.

I’d pick April over July every time. Might be a more expensive season but the weather is so much more pleasant(depending which weeks are compared and available offers). I would worry too much about crowds, both will be busy and WDW does a really good job of expanding park hours and staffing to handle those Easter crowds.
Ratatouille will be open but it’s possible Guardians doesn’t open until Epcot’s 40th Anni in Oct 2022. Tron could be as far out as 2023. Still, there’s a lot of new stuff expected like the Enchanted fireworks for MK and new Genie App. Plus a good chance WDW is running full steam next spring. April 2022 sounds like a terrific time to visit!

It’s going to be super crowded any time you go so I’d go with the better weather. I really don’t see how anyone can enjoy themselves in Disney in summer. I’d be so miserable from the oppressive heat that I know I wouldn’t be able to enjoy anything and it would be a waste of a huge amount of money. But everyone is different.

I would do April just for the weather alone. The heat and humidity in July really zaps our energy and we need so much more down time because of it!

I would go in April over July. The heat and humidity in Florida is oppressive in July and all I would want to do is find air conditioning! My family has gone several years during Thanksgiving week. We arrive the Friday or Saturday before the holiday and it is really manageable. The parks are decorated for Christmas and we love going that time of year. Our kids were off from college so it worked out great.

Ordinarily I would recommend April --except for THIS year! I'd have to recommend July even though it'll be hot, hot, hot. I've commented on another thread why this coming April will be rough. Easter Sunday is a moving date on calendar, sometimes it's in March, sometimes in April --this year it happens to fall during MOST vacation weeks for grades K-12. New England states have the week of April 17 as a fixed school holiday (NH has fixed week the following week) Many school districts around the country take Easter week off whenever it falls on the calendar. So Mid-April this year in particular will be very busy. Very very busy.
It happens this way every few years. I'd go with July this time and go with a great attitude! start out early, get a lot done before the real heat kicks in, and then hit the pool. come back out when sun is lower in the sky. the advantage is that parks usually stay open later in summer.
