When to go in June?

We might have a chance to go to southern California next June between June 6 and June 19, and might be able to spend about 3 to 4 of those days at Disneyland Resort. When would be the best time to go during that time period?

Also, what were grad-nights like this year? I thought I remember a year or two ago hearing DL handled grad-nights differently than they used to.

Most think the grad nights are a minor inconvenience. Some have felt more impacted and plan to avoid them in the future.

As far as Grad Nights go, looks like later in June would be the time to go to avoid them.

I actually had my dates wrong...we could possibly be in So. California anywhere between June 6 and June 24.

What about crowds in general in early June vs late June. I know schools in some areas don't start summer break until mid-June. But then there are the AP holders. Is it better to go on the days when So. Cal. AP holders are blocked out, or not blocked out?

Anyone have an idea why the So. Cal. AP holders are blacked out Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun during June 17th - 20th next year, but only blacked out Fri and Sat the two weeks prior and the week after? Is something scheduled that week?

The reason SoCal AP are only blocked out two days the weeks before is to give value to those AP holders. I have no idea why they would have less blocked days the week after. I personally would go after the blockout if possible - having done that once before. Be aware that with the 60th anniversary celebration in full force by then that the AP holder blockout issue will be huge next summer.

I read through the link you shared but I am still confused as to why you would go after the block out as opposed to going during those dates. I know you have a good reason so please help me understand!

By "after the blockout", are you saying to go on days when they are blocked-out, or days when they are not blocked-out?

new to DLR trip planning and considering next June too.. I guess I didn't realize there was much more to timing at Disneyland that WDW. i appreciate any summaries ::yes::

We went June 21-25th this year and it was wonderful! The weather was great and the crowds were low. That said, who knows what the 60th celebration will bring as far as crowds.

For clarity I meant "after the blockout starts" i.e., in late June. :)

We've been the last week of June before, as well, and found it a great time to visit---nice weather and low(ish) crowds!:)

Just curious, but do you know if the So Cal annual passholders were blocked out during any of those days?

Unfortunately the I can't go late enough in June for them to be fully blocked out (the last day So Cal AP's can go in Summer is July 25) and we'd probably need to start heading home around that date. The time I could go and get the most days where they are blocked out would be to go around that four day period Wed June 17 - Sat June 20 where they are blocked out....still puzzled as to why that Wed and Thur are blocked out.

It's been a few months since I last asked this, but does anyone know why the Southern California Annual Passholders are blocked out on Wed June 17 and Thurs June 18?. It doesn't seem to fit the pattern of the two weeks prior or the week after, when they are unblocked Wed and Thur of those weeks. Is there a special event either of those two days (other than grad nights)?

I am curious too. Especially since they are still having Grad Night on the 17th. Seems odd to have a Grad Night if there is a special event going on.

Regardless, I've booked my trip to coincide with those dates. I hope I don't regret that choice!

I'm trying to go around those dates also. Another thing I noticed is there are no rooms available on Thursday June 18 at the GCH. Rooms are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, but not Thursday. Makes me more worried that some kind of event is going on.

I emailed Disney a few months back and they could not tell me if anything was scheduled for those dates.

Can I tag along here?
We are currently planning a trip (We'll call it a first trip to DL)
We had thought we would get to to the week of Memorial Day but that's now out
So, we are now looking at June.
We plan to spend 6 nights, at a Disney owned resort and have bought a 5 day park hopper pass.
I would like to encounter the lowest crowds we can, or at least avoid the worse of them. I know it will be crowded no matter what
My first choice is Jun 2-8
My second choice is Jun 16-22
Third choice is unknown. Don't really have one
So, what is the better option, 1, 2, or something else?

I'll be there the first week in June. There are grad nights on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, so that stinks. I'm thinking to make the 5th (Friday) a non-park day, since we have early Saturday flights anyway, and try to work around the grad nights on Tues and Weds.
My thinking was that many schools will still be in session, so overall crowds would be smaller, with the exception of the grad nights. :confused3 Hopefully it works out okay!

Do pay attention to grad nights and if it were me I would try minimize this where possible. But it is not the end of the world. I would steer away from GCH during grad night times as you might end up with a room that has noise outside until 3AM. Plus a late performance of WOC. GCH is pretty quiet in my experience (I have had park facing rooms) but you can still hear things there from the park.

I think this year will some impact from AP holders before the blockout on June 26 (see https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/?month=1)

Finally I would add not to sweat it. You are not going to get everything perfect in June. If it were me and I had the chance to go June 26-July 2 I would do that. But your other dates will work fine as long as you know to work around grad nights and are prepared for potentially larger crowds because of SoCal AP holders using their passes within their priviliges which do drive up crowds.

I would be hard pressed to choose between your choice 1 and 2 but if I had to choose I would go with #2. Less grad nights and several blockout days in there.

Good luck.

Thanks. Good info.

Something else I guess I need to ask about, weather in June. Is it fairly similar over the month? or does it get a lot hotter as the month goes on?

The Resort we are looking at is Disneyland Hotel, to distance ourselves from the similar to WDW resorts, GCH.

I was looking at the grad night info and didn't like how many nights it was going on the week we are looking at.

I hate the thought of moving the trip to even later but if the benefits are good enough it's worth it to wait a couple more weeks. I'll check the air prices for that week too.
