When to go in January?

Our WDW annual passes will expire mid-January and my husband and I are hoping to squeeze in one more trip in the first half of January. Knowing that there is the marathon weekend and MLK weekend during that time period, I'm having trouble figuring out when the best time to go will be that will be less crowded. Any advice?

Originally, we had been planning going over MLK weekend, flying down either Thursday night or Friday morning (Jan. 11 or 12) and leaving Monday, though Sunday is the day our passes expire. However, I'm starting to rethink that plan and consider flying down the Friday night or Saturday morning of the marathon weekend (Jan. 5 or 6) and leaving Tuesday night. What do you think?

I think the marathon weekend is more packed than MLK weekend, so I would choose the latter.

I was there on MLK weekend in 2013 and 2014 and the crowds weren't bad. It's not when I'd typically take a vacation, but for some reason, I thought being born in January was a good idea.

Fly in the Sunday of Marathon weekend. The Monday-Thursday are really rather nice right after the race. Friday starts to pick up for MLK, but hey if it's one of your last days spend it at Disney Springs or redoing a park you already spent significant time in.
