I need some help planning our next DW trip in 2009. These are my options so far:

May 26-June 2 (right after Memorial Day)
June 2ish-9
or week of Thanksgiving: Nov. 21-28

I wanted your thoughts on what would be best for my family which will include two adults and two children (ages 6 and 3). We went in early January 2008 and the fever to go has bitten us again.

Any help would be appreciated.

:welcome: to the boards! When will the 3 yr old turn 3? If he/she turns 3 before any of your dates, I would look at the Thanksgiving trip.........the 3 yr old will be that many months older, Christmas decorations are up, crowds are not insane & temps are a little more bearable!

Have fun with the fever!

Thanks Padisfam. Our youngest would actually be four if we go at Thanksgiving. My concern then would be the insane crowds. When would crowds be better: Thanksgiving or early summer?

I'll be going Halloween of 09, we feel it's a good time to go so we don't have to deal with all the crowds and we can do things a couple times if we want.

Not sure how the crowds are during Thanksgiving Week, but the fall time seems to be less crowded in general. I would suggest going then, it's way less hot than May/June (the heat durning summer in FL is horrible). Plus the decor is beautiful durning the fall.
Hope you and your family have fun when you do go.

I would choose the May 26 - June 2 dates. It will be MUCH lower crowds than Thanksgiving - yes, Thanksgiving week crowds are insane crowds, only behind Chritmas, Easter and 4th of July weeks for high attendance. And the heat and humidity in September is far, far worse than May/June. October heat and humidity is about the same as May/June.

Thanks everyone and keep the posts coming. Early June looks like a great option but Thanksgiving has its perks as well. We are mainly interested in the lower crowd volume.

All three of your options are going to have crowds, but I would say your best bet is your late May choice. Schools are still in session, but it'll be the beginning of the summer season. Hollywood Studios may be a bit crowded during that time because of Star Wars weekends.

June 2-9 would be busy because of the summer season. Nov 21-28 would be crazy because of the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years are very busy, but the few weeks in between then aren't too bad.

We usually go at the end of April, early May. But as my kids get older in school, I will be looking at other options as well. We were visiting Siesta Key, FL this summer and couldn't resist 1 day at the MK.:wizard: We were there Tues. June 10th and did not find the crowds to be as bad as we thought they might be. We utilized fast passes and had a great time. The Spectromagic parade was not totally crowded either. It was open until midnight that night, so I think that helped. In the future we will probably be going early June, as I think the crowds don't get horrible until later June as the summer wears on. JMHO.;)

Keep the great advice coming. One thing that may sway our decision are special codes or incentives at that time. Are there typically any deals to be found during late May/early June or week of Thanksgiving if we stay onsite?

This past may they ran a promo for a free upgrade of the water parks and more option on to your park hoppers. You are way more likely to get a special deal, code or incentive in May than you are at Thanksgiving - they just aren't going to give out incentives to get people in the parks on major holidays, because so many people are already there.

I also think late May would be the one to pick from your options. It will be warm but I think you will sneak in just before the summer on slaught.

From what I hear, Thanksgiving week is extremely popular so I think I would avoid that.

Good luck!

I have always read that the week AFTER Thanksgiving and the first 2 weeks in dec are lovely times to go.

Late May---go that time every year. Warm but not unbearable and the summer crowds are not there yet. We have received one incentive during that time and that was several years ago. Enjoy.

Anytime is a good time but there are a few times better than others. I would say out of your choices the end of May would be the best.
