My AP's expire on Dec. 5th, and I would love to get one more week out of them (that would make it 21 days!). I know Thanksgiving weekend is the busiest travel weekend of the year, but I was wondering which day would be the worst to travel.

Also, what are crowds like that week (at the parks)?

Thanks All

Parks are very busy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

We're planning on going that week as well, but might look to fly out on Tuesday if we don't use frequent flyer miles. My preferred airline (American) has the flights on Tuesday at literally half the cost of what they are on Sunday or Monday - guess it's all that holiday traffic.

A couple years ago we flew down Thanksgiving day, we did go to the parks on Saturday, very crowded. From Sunday afternoon and the whole week following it was a walk on for everything.
Flying on Thanksgiving was not crowded, airfares were cheaper. The worst line we saw was at the car rental- 2 hours!!

Can give you some solid information :goodvibes :wizard: :flower: :sunny:

Hi Kevin,

The Sunday after Thanksgiving and the day before Thanksgiving are the most crowded days in airports each year. I would try to avoid travelling on those two days if at all possible.

If you must travel on Wednesday or Sunday, book as soon as you can..the fares will be astronomical if you wait another few months!

Good luck,

Bob

I would pick mon. well my dh is headed down that mon. anyway for a big conference at the swan, last year 4,000 of them converged on las vegas, this time its orlando also I read another poster said that pop warner is the weekend of the 5th, I think, so it will get crowded again. But you could take advantage of the mvmcp too.

A couple years ago I flew down on the Saturday afternoon after Thanksgiving. Airfare/car rental prices were quite reasonable, especially compared to flying in on that Sunday following Thanksgiving. Monday rates would probably be even less, if you have a chance.

We're having the same problem. My DS has to be in Denver on the Monday after Thanksgiving for a competition. Flights from Boston are running at $315 right now. Me and the girls can fly the very next day for only $179. I'm going to keep checking, but I don't want to wait much longer to book the Monday flight. I'm afraid that the fares will go up even higher.

We are flying out Sunday, but wish it was Saturday. My brother's family flew out Thankgiving Day and he said it was less than a normal fly day! Friday or Sat would be my 1st choice!

They just had a bit on air travel over the holidays this year. They said not to count on getting any deals this season. Many flights are already sold out, and the prices are skyrocketing. Of course, if you wait until the last minute, or go standby, you may get a bargain...but do you really want to take that chance? I'm so glad I booked last February for my Christmas trip...prices have quadrupled since then!

Thanksgiving Day is THE best day, probably of the entire year, to fly. Given your options, I would say Monday, then Saturday, then Sunday ONLY if you absolutely MUST.
