When to check in online?

What's the benefit of checking in online? We have three different rooms. We noted that we want the rooms near one another(adjoining). The last time we checked in ahead of time, the room we got assigned to, had people that decided to stay an extra day. Therefore, we were far away from our family and had to move to a second room, after the second day. The CM said it would have been easier to accommodate us if we had not done early check-in. Should we, or shouldn't we check in early? When should we check in? What's your thoughts?

Whether you get your room requests granted or not has nothing to do with checking in Online. What the CM told you was incorrect. All rooms are assigned 2-3 days out whether you check in online or not.
