When to call hotel to make requests

If you book through Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. and not through Disney, itself, do you have to wait until closer to arrival (we will be at the DHL in July) to call and make room requests? I thought I saw someone write that they don't actually get your reservation from outside companies, until about a week or two before arrival. Anybody have any knowledge about this? Thanks!

I always speak directly with the hotel, and make sure that the person I am speaking to is actually onsite.

I would suggest that you call the hotel and have them note your request on your reservation. I do this with HoJo because we need connecting rooms.

Then on the day before our arrival, I call again to remind them; and again the next morning to make sure they have given us the rooms we requested.

Never had a problem.

I recommend this as well. At our hotel it normally takes a day for third party reservation to show in our system. We always recommend guests to add room request sooner than later; this way you do not have to worry about it as much and you know your requests are noted. Then call again closer to your check in date to make sure the request is still there and if there is a chance your requests can be accommodated. I would definitely call the hotel earlier than a week or two before you arrive to add your requests
