When to buy AP?

My mother and I are planning a trip to WDW in Nov of 2016. We are purchasing PAP for this trip and the one in 2017. I already have my room ressie and the CM told me to make sure I call them back once purchased so I could get a AP room discount. From my last trip I learned that you definitely need to book your fastpass 60 days out. So with all this information, do I need to go to my Disney Store and purchase the PAPs around July 2016? I'm thinking that date due to that is when the room discounts came out this year for Nov and this way we would have them. What do you think; good time or wishful thinking?

Your AP clock doesn't start until you use it to go to a park. So you could technically buy them today and not use them until 2016

I would buy them before rats increase. This year that was in feb so plan around jan/feb but keep and eye on the boards

Also I am pretty sure you don't need an AP to book the AP rAte. You will need it when you check in but could still book it with possessing the pass. Some one chime in if I am mistaken

The CM on the phone was incorrect.
Guests do not need to OWN an AP in order to book an AP Room rate.
You can book the room anytime and buy the AP voucher "whenever."

Just buy the AP voucher in advance of 60 days before your arrival date so that you can make advanced FP+ reservations.
