I will be arriving in the world on 12/1.

Reading another thread I saw there was a PAP deal last year in the october time frame. I do not really need PAP over AP, but I would do it if it were like 20$ more.

I also want TIW for my trip, and need tickets for MVMCP.

When should I buy things? I want to get the discounts that PAP/AP offers (if any over DVC membership). I would rather have everything in hand before leaving for my trip.

Is there a "do it no later than" date people would suggest?

You can purchase the AP before your trip, but you will just get a certificate or number to pick it up at Will Call unless you pay to have a voucher mailed to you. You don't want to purchase the TiW card until you plan to use it because it starts when you purchase it. So pick that up at Guest Relations (any park or DTD) when you get the actual AP. Tickets for MVMCP go on sale sometime in the future. You'll want to purchase those before the night you plan to go sells out. Sometimes there is a DVC discount, but usually only for specific nights, not all nights.

And I'd love to see another PAP discount in October. I'd buy it and save it until May when we return (we'll be using our PAP that we bought last Oct for our third stay in October).

Tickets for the Christmas party started on May 1st, I think. I would have to check my paperwork. I bought mine the first day that sales started. There is a DVC discount but only for certain days. Allears has info on which days are available for discount. It's not much, but every little bit helps;)

I say as soon as you can afford it! :rotfl2:

I bought our MVMCP the day they went on sale (I think May 1 as pp said).

I got our AP's with our tax refund and hence before they went up in price (but they won't be going up again before Dec, so you're good there).

And we'll pick up our TIW card when we get pick up our AP's at EPCOT on our first day.

We arrive Nov. 30, so pretty much the same as you! :goodvibes

AP/PAP -- Unless there is a special that you want to take advantage of, you can wait until you get to WDW to buy your DVC AP (or you can buy through the DVC Web site or by calling MS and you'll be given a will-call number so you can pick them up when you get there).

TiW -- Like Deb said, wait until you arrive at WDW. If you buy it in early December, it will be good until the following January. If you bought it today, it would be good until August 2014. No reason to buy it ahead of time.

MVMCP -- Buy at your leisure before you go. Like PP said, the DVC and AP discounts will be for specific days.

You have to have an Active AP in hand or be a FL Resident to purchase a TiW card by mail or phone. An exchange voucher or will-call confirmation number will not be accepted. I'm not sure if the codes off the new RFID APs will even be accepted for mail or phone orders for AP holders since these don't match the ticket numbers expected on the mail order form.

DVC Members are not eligible to purchase a TiW card by mail or phone.

Thanks everyone, I will just buy the AP later in the year (and wait to see if a PAP deal like last year happens). MVMCP is not a big concern for me, i only need 2 tickets, so any potential savings is less than 20 bucks, and I will do TIW when i get there.

You can do the AP and TiW card and the same time if you go to a Guest Relations location. Park Ticket windows can do APs, but not TiW cards.

If member pricing is available for the MVMCP date you are interested in, you can get the member price any time up to 1 day prior by calling MS.
