When to book????

I was wondering how far in advance you need to reserve a room? It will take a lot of scrimping and saving to get to the magic. I would hate to reserve and then cancel. Is there a penalty for canceling? Also what if Amtrak is delayed or medical problems cause us to be a day late? Do we lose the reservation? Is it possible to just show up and get a room? Also I have heard that the disabled get the second room without charge (we have 3 in electric wheelchairs with lots of equipment as well as 2 others-all adults). Is the fridge free at value resorts for medicine and /or tube feeds (need medium or large fridge)? Whoo, lots of questions, I know. Thanks for your help! I love this site!

I have always made reservations as soon as I had possible dates. If you book room only then all you have to put down is one nights deposit for each room and you have until 6 days before arrival to cancel and get a full refund. You have to canclle sooner if it is a package but I have had to cancel those before anf got a full refund. Just ask when you make the reservation what the cancellation policy is. Next, if you are delayed due to transportation and call DW to let them know the situation they are usually pretty flexible. I would never try to just show up because the longer you wait to make the reservation the less options you may have with what resort you want and anything extra your party may need. Last I heard value resorts charged $10 a night per room for fridges. DW is currently installing free fridges in all moderate and deluxe resorts but I don't know about values. The extra room for free is also something I have never heard of but I also have never had the need to find out. You should try posting on the disabilities board because I am sure they could share some wonderful ideas. Good Luck. I hope this helps.
