Hi all, I am planning to try and get a standard room by renting DVC points through David's or DVC store. But, I'm not optimistic that will work due to newness of those rooms, high demand, peak season, etc. SO... When to book through Disney? I need the cheapest el cheapo room I can get that sleeps 5 (ha! It will be anything but!) so feel I should book asap... But then will I lose out on discounts that are released later? I don't get how that works. Advice? Thanks in advance!

I believe you can book room only 499 days in advance, but you have to call WDW to do so. Cheapest room at the Poly.........on 4th of July o_O. The current rack rate for that time period is $540/night.......it will go higher for 2017. As far as renting points.............the Poly DVC is new and renting for that day may be a challenge at best. I looked at renting pts in November during Jersey week.........and their was ZERO availability. Not saying its impossible but my gut would say 4th of July.............very tough:rainbow:

Good Luck

Doug :goofy:

To rent DVC for Poly for July 4 will require home resort points, 11 months in advance. You are unlikely to get that either via David's or any other broker; you will need to find a private party renter who owns Poly points who is willing to book the morning of 11 months.

Do not expects discounts on a Poly room for July 4. They fill those rooms without a discount.

I booked through one of those agencies at 7 months out for a Poly studio for this late June/ early July. I will end up doing a split stay at Poly and then BWV. This is because we want to be near Epcot closer to the 4th not because there wasn't availability.
There was an agency that had a rate for a regular room at the Poly that came out to almost the same price as renting DVC with points. We opted for the split bath in DVC. Look at the discount for this summer even if you could get a Poly room it wouldn't come out to the same rate as the renting with DVC points.

I see discounts on the official Disney World site. 15% off at Poly mid June thru late August. It looks like these discounts were released recently. So... If you book early, then they release a discount on your room, can you get the price adjusted?

That 15% doesn't apply to every room in inventory. You can get your reservation adjusted IF there is inventory for the discount.

To LisaCM614 (sorry I don't know how to quote your above reply) can you tell me the agency you used? Or is that considered advertising and against the rules?

This year may not predict next year. Booking period at 7 months and later included a new declaration of rooms into the DVC condo association, doubling the available inventory within the 7-month booking period.

I booked my regular room for July 4th of this year at the beginning of this May with a 35% discount (surprised me too). Obviously booking sooner will guarantee the room but...

Eddie512--Thanks for asking, I have been wondering about the very same thing! My problem is I may or may not be going to WDW in May 2017, and would only go in July if the May trip doesn't work out.

Both agencies you mentioned are wonderful and I have used both. In this instance I used the latter.
