When should we book our October flight? We have been watching prices for about a month now....they are definately not going down. Should we just grab something now? Also, anyone have concerns booking with Delta for the fall? Our one option is with Delta, the other is with Continental. And finally....last question.... do you think a connecting flight is ok for first time flyers, age 4 and 7 (layover is about 40 minutes). DH wants to book with an airport closer to our home which would then be a connecting flight using Delta. Opinions?

When I was looking for flights, I had a certain price range in mind and when prices ever got close to it I was going to buy. I checked all the airlines available to me everyday. Sometimes multiple times a day. The prices were always the same, more than I wanted to pay and then for a 2 day period Delta had a sale. It was never announced, I just saw the prices because I was checking every day. I bought the tickets right away.
Now with delta that is the big question mark. I believe I am going to be ok, we fly on the 14th next month, but I am not sure if I would buy a ticket on them right now, if there were other options.
As for connecting flights with kids, I happen to try to avoid it. I wanted to get where ever I was going as fast as possible, plus always hated the chance of missing the connecting flight. My kids are older now, but we still try to get non stop flights when ever we can.
So, bottom line, have a price you are willing to pay, look at all the airline options you have and buy when the price hits near what you can pay. Personally, I would avoid delta, but many people feel that the airline and pilots will come to an agreement.

We went to WDW last October. We bought our plane tickets in April, and they never got any cheaper. Every time I checked they were higher, at one point they were TRIPLE what I paid.

I guess it depends on your market. There aren't many choices from Dallas to Orlando so the prices don't tend to go down. SW doesn't fly direct from here, and trying to piece together flights from here, to a midpoint, to Orlando, and back the same way was making my head hurt.

I bought our tickets for this August on Christmas Eve. They stayed the same price until earlier this week - now they have jumped by $50 per person. I am hemming and hawing about tickets for December. They have been the same price every time I have checked, but I bet the closer we get the higher they will go.
