When to book for June 06?

This will be our first off-site experience at WDW I am not sure when to book to get the best deals. I want to be as close as we can be but still at a good price over on-site. I am looking at the Sheraton Safari because I like the theming but I am open to others. I may try Priceline but only after I do some research because I am a PL virgin.
When should I be able to get the best rates for June 4th-10th? What are some of the best rates you've gotten for this time period at Sheraton or other comparable properties?

We usually go in May and I start just after Christmas looking for a place to stay. We have never stayed onsite. Really don't know why, just never have. Last year we stayed at the Wyndham Palms. Had a nice two bedroom, would go back in a heartbeat. There are so many condos in Orlando you can find a great place to stay on every street corner. Just do some homework and you will find what you and your family want for not a lot of cash. Love having a kitchen.

Ooops, forgot when I'm looking I just do a google search for Orlando Hotels or Orlando Condos. Found lots of interesting things there.

If you're looking to priceline then you want to wait until you get much closer. For June I wouldn't start bidding much before May. A lot of times hotels won't even release their rooms to Priceline until the last month or so before arrival.
If you decide not to go the priceline route then I'd try some of the discount sites like cheaptickets.com and hotelkingdom.com now and then possibly just track their rates over then next month or so.

Why not book something and if you find something better cancel. If you have certain days you must be there I personally would like to have a sure thing for back up.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just hold on for a while and see what comes up. Maybe I'll PL, maybe I won't have to. We are driving down so our dates are flexible as long as it is in the summer. We just like the first week of June best. Guess I'll keep watching and waiting...
