When to Bank Points for a Trip the Following Year?

Now, I understand the banking deadlines...

We have two trips planned (Feb & Sept) using our Dec 2003 UY points. We have a small balance remaining, that will be banked in 2004. We are looking to book a Dec 2004 vacation. We would obviously want to use our banked points first, then our 2004 UY points.

The question is, if we make our ressie prior to banking, the ressie will be secured using our 2004 UY points. Now our banking deadline for 2003 UY does not occur until May. If we bank our remaining balance say in April, we MS apply those points to the previously ressie? Or will they need to cancel the initial ressie and rebook it, thus no longer giving us an 11 month ressie? Also, we may want to try OKW in Sept. This as it turns out would be a lower point ressie, creating even more 2003 UY points that will be booked in 2004 UY.

How does all this work?

You can bank your remaining December 2003 points at any time. The banking deadlines indicate the final days on which you can bank the given number of points. But there's no reason to wait that long.

You should be able to take care of it in one phone call when you call to make your December 2004 ressie. Just tell them you want to bank the rest of your '03 points, and make sure they are the first ones applied to your 2004 stay.

If you end up making your reservations before the banking, then just tell them at the time of the banking that you want to reallocate the points for your existing 12/04 ressie. Shouldn't be a big deal, but make sure they read back your balances and that they agree with your records.

Ok, that is what I had hoped would be the answer. I must have been overthinking this.
