My Escape Wedding is at 2:30pm on a Thursday. We are trying to decide if we need to arrive on the Tuesday, or if we would be fine arriving from Toronto on the Wednesday morning (to save a bit of money). My DF is not renting a tux so all we need to grab is the wedding license at the courthouse but don't really have any other errands (the girls may book a mani/pedi Wed afternoon).
When did you arrive? Are we good just arriving the day before? :confused3

We are arriving Wed. for our Sat. wedding, although we host a welcome party on Friday night, so technically we did have to arrive early anyway. I feel like we do have quite a bit of last minute details to go over once we get down there {and we did our marriage license by mail}. We are also coming from up north in January so we want to be sure we leave plenty of time in case the weather isn't good and planes aren't taking off. I think flying in the day before is a little too risky. You never know what may happen, even the almost impossible, so the earlier the better. One of the ladies I worked with a while back had her destination wedding planned in the Caribbean right around 9/11. She actually bought all this stuff with her wedding date on it and because no one could fly out then she ended up getting married down there, but it was a few days later than her original date because of all the flight confusion.

Hi,

I don't want to be a kill-joy but you may want to think about any flight delays you might experience. We were delayed overnight and arrived well over 24 hours late. Luckily we hadn't got much planned for that day but it made us realise how much things could have gone wrong if we had flown out later.

Sorry if I sound pessamistic but it is something to think about.

Our wedding is also at 2:30 pm on a Thursday. We are going to be there on Tuesday to check into our room. We also won't have a lot of errands to run other than the wedding license but I agree that if you're flying in, Tuesday might be safer when it comes to the possibility of canceled/delayed flights :confused3

We are arriving on Thursday for our Monday wedding, we'll be getting the marriage license on the Friday.

We are planning to do the wedding license by mail, but plan on arriving the tuesday before our friday wedding. I want some time to relax and do anything less minute because I get really...sassy if I get stressed. We're actually planning a scuba dive for that wednesday to super relax. I feel like I'll look back at taking that extra day as a really good idea rather than regret it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think we will stick to the Tuesday - we never thought about flight delays. That's why these boards are great!!

DH and I arrived the day before our wedding. United lost his luggage. It took several hours and eventually they were found it and sent to our hotel later that night; but it could have been a nightmare. I wouldn't cut things so close if I did it again.

Our wedding was on a Monday at 10:00 am. We arrived a week early just so we could unwind, see guest and have some fun. I also packed anything we would need on the wedding day in our carry on. Just in case. If you are coming in right before the wedding, I would pack everything in your carry on. I don't trust airlines these days.
